PRESIDENT of the Islamic Council of Jamaica, Mustafa Muhammad, says he agrees with the Sharia law which prescribes death for people who openly flaunt homosexual behaviour.

Muhammad did not mince words as he lashed out against what he described as an unclean, unnatural lifestyle.

“It is illegal and in the Sharia law the punishment is death. If you follow Christianity it is a crime in the sight of God. He destroyed a whole city because of this thing. It is an ungodly practice and I apologise to no one for this,” Muhammad said.

Muhammad made sure to state that he was against the killing of gays in Jamaica.

“This can only be done in a country that is being run by Islam,” he said.

So...since the country is not under Sharia law, that means it's okay to be alive and homosexual? But if the country was under Sharia law, then it would be otherwise?

You do realize that sodomy was a capital crime in many place in Christian Europe, even up to the eighteenth century.

What does that have to do with the article I just posted?

This kind of thing just give fuel to gay activists to turn anything anyone says against their lifestyles into a hate crime.

Truly we who disobey God's divine plan deserve death. The fact we are offered love and forgiveness through Christ's death and resurrection is another reason why God is awesome.

Oscar Wilde was given a less...terminal...punishment for his lewdness in the 1890s. Wilde got 2yrs of hard labor. And now the Queen bestows knighthood on flamboyant homosexuals. England has progressed far since her prior backwardness. Perhaps Islam could learn a thing or two from the West's surviving monarchy.

It's still a sin before God, it's just a matter of the state and culture being under appropriately righteous guidance to make such punishments just.

This is how a lot of more modernist Islamic thinkers get around the putative aspects of Sharia' law. They set the bar of what constitutes a sufficiently just society to make the implementation of the corporal aspects of Sharia impossibly high.

It might as well have been for Turing in the 1950's

New Zealand only just repealed the sodomy laws in 1986. Up until 1960ish it was life imprisonment.

And we're a rather secular country!
