Maybe I should have posted this in the "Lame" section because I'm bored and I thought that it might be interesting to see what sorts of sports and physical recreation we like.

As for me, when I was young I played soccer and swam on a swim team, then I got into tennis and track. And then powerlifting later. And I've tried surfing since I live very close to the beach now.

I still love to play tennis and at my best I'm about a 5.0 . And I still like to lift heavy weights. I'm going to compete in a "Tactical Strength Contest" in April. But since I work close to a really excellent ice rink I've gotten into skating and I want to play ice hockey. It looks to me like it's one of the greatest sports of all time.

It seems that this forum has a lot of pretty athletic people. What sorts of sports do you guys like?

So why didn't you add hockey, swimming, etc. as choices? (I enjoy both those water sports).

I added it as a recreation. We only get fifteen answers per "question".

In the past, I played basketball, softball, volleyball, and swam competitively. It was 6-on-6 old style girls basketball, and I played defense only, mostly under the net because of my height. I played fast pitch, second base until my eyesight started getting bad, and then centerfield. I was the clean up hitter. My game was always power, never speed. Home runs were easier than running the bases. I did backstroke, briefly, but it was too expensive. I also did shot putt, the old way without spinning. If I'd have had to spin, I'd have probably taken out spectators.

Everyone in my family also golfed and bowled. Never had a hole in one or perfect game, but when I golfed with my friends they used to make me tee off from the mens' tees.

I tried out for softball in college, and made the team, but with my history of injuries and surgeries the coach said it would take a full time trainer just for me to keep me on the field. So I switched to archery and riflery. I also competed on the school's lumberjack team, crosscut sawing and axe throwing mostly. I still have my throwing axe. It is sitting on a book shelf right above where my husband sits. I'm sure that's Freudian in some way. I also loved rock climbing and rappelling in college.

Now that I'm middle aged and broke down like an old nag, I do water aerobics several times a week. I play disc golf in summer and have just taken up 5-pin bowling. Since I can't twist at the waist anymore, regular golf is out of the question. The sport I miss the most is snorkeling. Can't do much of that here.

I used to play Netball a lot, I played it for a good 12 years when I was in school, been meaning to get back into it if I can find a recreational team.

Did a year of ninjitsu, but our sensei had family issues and had to leave us to the "instruction" of a very strange (and pregnant) woman. I took up Karate last year, but then moved for a job, but I might be moving back to that karate location. so yeah.

Played soccor and grass hockey.

God bless those sports! People think Netball is for girls, well, it is, but that doesn't mean we can't be violent about it.

I wanted to play rugby, but my mum wouldn't let me because a lot of people get injured in it, a guy from our church broke his neck in a scrum. Praise the Lord he can walk, but he's got some nerve damage which means he needs crutches.
