That is just a place to start. The Black Eyed Peas are a catchy group of entertainers who are very commercially savvy. They aren't the best of all time at anything.

Sorry for the all caps-my computer was being dumb. But Black Eyed Peas are not real hiphop. Run DMC, Public Enemy, Vatican Ninja and Heavenly Hustla, the list goes on and on...

As an objective outsider to hip hop, and as a person who knows music rather well, I'd classify them as hip hop.
