As some of you know I have been going through a difficult time but I now feel as if I am coming through it. My question is I feel as if it is time to find a spiritual director and I have a small convent near me (The Sisters of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary) and I was wondering if I should contact them. If I do, what do I say to them?
Thank you for your help and sorry for what is most probably a stupid question

Spiritual Director?

Introduce yourself, explain that you are looking for a spiritual director, and you wondered if there are any priests in your area that they could recommend. If not, ask them if they have any recommendations where else you can continue your search.
God bless!

If you'd rather have a sister as a spiritual director, that's also possible (I was advised to find a spiritual director who was neither my parish priest nor my confessor, but many people prefer to combine the confessor/spiritual director roles).
And what TLS said - the sisters ought to know, and they'll probably like the question. :)

Okay, so I'm a spaz- I thought: "Who's TLS?"
My spiritual director was a priest who taught at my university. Some of my friends have Sisters who are their spiritual directors, and they love it. The important thing is to be honest with your SD from the beginning. Let them know that it's your first time, and that you want to try it out to see if it works. Most SDs understand that sometimes the relationship just doesn't work, or that you need something different/something more, and won't be offended if that's what you decide.
Good luck! Let us know how it goes!

I have recived some info from my diocesan vocation center which explains what you should look for in a SD, so hopefully this will guide me to the right person.

Don't be discouraged if it takes a couple tries for you to find someone who (a) you're comfortable with and (b) someone who will challenge you to grow in the spiritual life.
God bless you!

Thank you :) At the moment I seem to be going through a range of emotions with the main one being fear of my vocation (is it real, should I pursue it, I want to enjoy life etc).
