Pray to the Blessed Mother! That is what I do for my mother, she also does not want me to enter the religious life. SHe seems a bit more accepting these days though... Still, pray to Mary, Mother of God, and she will help. She does many wonderful things for her children!

As sad as it was for your mom to say that Rev, I have to give you the other side to that. [okay i'm not a mom, but this is what my friend, who is a mom, told me ] Most mothers, including our Blessed Mother, are very sorrowful when it comes to giving up their son or daughters. To moms, this is like loosing your child to no longer be hers but to be God's. My friend, who lost her son, expresses this could be the great fear many parents have, even if they know in the long run it is for the greater cause. Parent's are afraid ... yes, they are human, and your mom was sure expressing those human feelings.
Does any one know this is sure or not, but my mom said many special graces are recieved when a parent gives their child to the Religious life because they have given up their child. I would definately not be surprised at this!
