Ave Maris Stella will be doing a Three Month Special Series, (One a month) on religious founders, starting in may.
If you could help me out with founders of some well known religious founders, I'd appreciate it.
So far I have:
Fr. Benedict Groshel (Franciscan Friars of the Renewl)
Fr. Marciel Maciel (Legionaires of Christ and Regnum Christi)
Mother Angelica (Sisters of Perpetual Adoration)
That is what I have, so far.
Now I need people to do some research and write a 300-600 word bio on each. I will Marciel Maciel becasue I like the Legion!
Thakns for your help.
I will be doing Six founders in each, so I need about 18 founders in all for hte special series.
Thanks a lot!

I can tell you a fairly good amount about Bl. Fr. James Alberione, founder of the Pauline orders (Daughters of St. Paul, etc.). Ven. Mother Techla Merlo was the co-foundress of the Daughters of St. Paul. It looks like you're wanting info on living founders, though.

Neat idea. Hmm. Mother Angelica is not the foundress of the PCPA. Go to their website and there is info about the foundress of their branch of Poor Clares.
Hey, how 'bout St. Dominic?

Mother Marie Claire was the foundress of the PCPA's. They started in France. I can't believe I didn't catch that one, too! lol
She would be great to write about. Mother Angelica is the Abess for the community in Hanceville, as far as I know.

cool! I wish they would have kept the more traditional habit though... I don't know... it somehow just removes the some of the nun "sense" that the traditional habit has... you know?

I agree with you 100%. Almost every order with a "reformed habit" has gone on my reject list because, like you said, the Traditoinal habit just seems to say something more powerful than the habits that are generally the product of misinterpretation of Vatican II... I could rant about that another time, though

I do like the foundresses habit from the Adorers of the Precious Blood, it was really pretty.

He, by the way, founded a community.... Was it the Visitation order?

Fr. Maciel Marcial is amazing. It's so exciting to have our founder of Regnum Christi still alive and to be co-founders in the movement with him. WHat do you need to know?

One that also might be cool in one in the process of founding... Fr. Frank Pavone from Priests for Life is starting a religious order of priests dedicated to defending life.
