Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
I would solicit your prayers this weekend in regards to my vocation. I have petitioned the Benedictine Abbey of the Immaculate Conception to join this summer as a Novice. The Chapter vote on my petition is this coming Monday and I would greatly appreciate any prayers offered on my behalf that the Chapter Vote may reflect the Father's will and call for me. Wow the whole chapter is voting on it! That's exciting. I'll pray for you. Remember to get some rest during this time... I was so exhausted after finishing a process very similar to this with the Poor Clares last week and I wish I would have rested better. God bless.
I would just like to thank everyone for their prayers and let everyone know that the community has accepted me as a postulant. I begin my novitiate this August. Please continue to pray for me as I begin this part of my journey with the Lord.

I thought you were studying for a dioceses?
Well, I guess if you had to settle for a monastery instead of an Archabbey, then Immaculate Conception is pretty good.

I was studying for a diocese, San Angelo to be exact. I have, however, discerned that God was calling me to a monastic way of life and have decided to enter the Abbey here.

Congrats!!! The Benedictines here (St. Vincent Archabbey) have been a tremendous example of holiness and a joyful life in Christ to my family and I.

Matt is no longer a Benedictine, but studying for the diocese of San Angelo, TX at Assumption Seminary in San Antonio, TX.
