Full Version: Who should I go with?

Okay, after further reflection, I've come to the conclusion that I'd be better served going to the retreat by myself. I would be able to discern better, it would be cheaper, and we wouldn't have to worry about the car breaking down in Kansas. I could either go with my godmother or fly on a plane by myself. Which should it be?

It also depends on your age! Are there any restrictions because of you being under-aged? (Not to say that you are but it was just a thought). Also consider how much you want your Godmother to be involved in the journey. If you are really keen on her being part on it all then it's another story. If it doesn't matter (as far as her being at the retreat) then think of that.

Hope you enjoy your retreat and make the best decision for you!

No, there aren't any age restrictions, and it's not like I don't want my godmother to be a part of my journey, but I just think I'd be able to discern better if I was by myself. Plus the car situation. Plus she'd have to take off days from work.

Well, that's cool. No worries on the age front. If she would have to take time off work and you feel like you would be better served/serving God by going alone then i recomend alone. That's what I would do. You can always include her by sharing your experience afterwards!

I think you'd be more comfortable going by yourself. Discernment retreats are great because you get to meet other people who are your age, and if your godmother came, you might feel like you need to spend time with her, too. My mom came with me once when I visited the Sister Servants, and one of my best friends was down there that weekend, too. My mom felt like I was ignoring her because I wanted to spend time with my friend.
