Hi y'all!!!!!!!!
I'm entering the
Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist in Ann Arbor, Michigan, on September 8.
That's
17 days!!!!!!
Even more imminent, however, is my departure from home (Oregon), the countdown for which stands at 4 days!!
A little about me? I'm Carly.. I'm 20, and I recently (in May) completed my sophomore year at Christendom College in Virginia. As I said above, I'm originally from Oregon. Um, I can't really think of anything else to say about myself.

I am very excited and happy, though the immediacy of everything is starting to hit, slowly but surely. As my friends return to college and I prepare for this wonderful life, the supreme goodness of Our Lord is soooo obvious! Praise Him always for His love and over-abundant generosity to us!
I just wanted to post this because PM has been a bigger part of my life lately, even when I haven't posted, and I really am gonna miss y'all! Please keep me in your prayers, especially in my final days with my family, and know that my PM friends will be specially in my prayers!!
NOTE: I know some of you are hoping to come visit the SMME on retreat, and I would absolutely love to meet y'all, so search me out!! I'd also love to hear (via snail mail) from anyone who has a moment to write... 4597 Warren Road, Ann Arbor, MI 48105

We're SO excited for you! Pray for me as your begin your first months of postulancy, as I'll be starting my postulancy with the Poor Clares of Perpetual Adoration, exactly two months after you- December 8th.
We hope your last few days of preparation go smoothly and that you are filled with peace as you embark on a wonderful adventure for Jesus.

Yep, I'll be seeing Camille in just over two weeks!! Whoo! She's gonna be my alarm clock! While we were there in July, she saved my skin by waking me up when I slept through the 6am bell our second morning there! Haha!
Yay for Elizabeth!!! Yay for Oregonians! Haha, I'm SO excited that you're gonna be there in October! Two months!

Man I have the butterflies in my stomach! I am sooooo excited for you!!!!!
I do have one more minor favor to ask of you, if you could say "hello" to Sister Maria Caritas for me, she'll know me. I've known her in her last months as a Postulant, since early this summer. I am so happy she became a Novice.
She is very dear to me. As are the rest of my sisters and sisters to be in the USA!

Aug 24 2005, 10:44 PM
No, we'll be visiting the Motherhouse around 3:30... I think my family's going to get a tour, and hopefully just be able to spend some time with the sisters. That's the idea, at least.

Oh! how I wish I was tucked away in your suitcase right about now!

Aug 24 2005, 10:49 PM
Hahaha! How cute! To tell the truth, there is NOTHING tucked away in my suitcase right now! We're leaving in like 36 hours (and at least half of that will be spent sleeping), and I haven't packed! Oops!!!!

Oh, and with regard to your earlier post, I don't think Mass at the Motherhouse is open to the public. I believe it's Sunday vespers, so I imagine we'll be staying for that.

Aug 24 2005, 10:55 PM
Hahaha, yes thast right, I was thinking of a community here in Minnesota that wear the full habits and veil's and have open mass for the public. Hehe.

Thank you Zwergel!
Since people seem to be reading this, I'd like to entreat your prayers on several items:
1) just generally, for my final 36 hours at home with my family, that I be granted the grace of complete charity, especialy towards my family in this *slightly* stressful time.
2) for my packing, which is about 2% complete and needs to be 100% done in the abovementioned 36 hours.

3) for my writing of my vocation story, which is a great big jumble, and I am really struggling with putting down on paper (or rather, my laptop) the last couple years...
4) for my family, for I know this is difficult for them as well... perhaps even more so, because I am going home, and I know they struggle with thinking that they are 'losing' me.
I'm sure I could come up with more, but I need to return to the vocation story for a bit and then get some shut-eye.

O Lord,
You have chosen out of Your world Your spouse', who have given everything up to "come follow You" as Your spouse, who have given up wordly possessions to take up their crosses and walk with You to spread the truth, the love, the faith, the Father.
Now Lord You still have -the state Your world is in-, have chosen among your sheephold those selected flock to "come follow You" Lord I ask of You to lay thy Sacred Hand upon Carly, who You have chosen to take up her cross and to follow You.
May in this time of great blessing, Lord, You will bless her, protect her, love her, fill her with the Holy Spirit, and may she go unto the world and spread the Word of God, You, the truth, the life.
I ask this through Christ our Lord,
AmenYes I realize its a lame prayer. Haha, it takes me at least 48 hours to make a great one.
I CANT wait to read your vocation story.
