Hi everyone,

I wanted to ask for prayers. I live north of Houston and we are going to be affected by the storm. I don't know yet if we're evacuating (MANY people have already had mandatory evacuation), but there's no doubt there will be considerable damage if Rita stays on her course.

Thanks so much, and God bless.

Thanks for all the prayers, guys. The hurricane had a 1 out of 3 chance of hitting Galveston, and bringing the eye straight to my town north of Houston. But we were blessed, and the storm hit the TX/LA boarder, moving it slightly to the east. The result was a stormy night, and it’s still storming pretty badly. We’re using a generator sparingly, which allows me to be online for only a few minutes. We lost power around 2 a.m. this morning. If we don’t have power tomorrow we’re going to go to Austin or another city, because the heat index will be 105 degrees, which is almost unbearable (especially for my little brother who has respiratory problems… and I have a little asthma). So thanks for your prayers, and KEEP THEM COMING!!!

God bless,
Lauren

Update: We've got the generator on again for a little while to help prepare dinner and cool down the house. I'll post some pictures in a few days if I can. Pray that our power comes back on by tomorrow, or we are going to be VERY hot.

Eddie, who are the companions of Christ?

Update: We just got our phone lines back after being down for the last two days. Still don't have power, and the heat index is around 108 degress. We have some fans running on our generator, and we COMPLETELY lucked out at a Home Depot we traveled an hour to get to yesterday upon finding TWO returned window unit a/c's. They had been sold out since before the storm. Now we have a/c in my parents room, so we are all sleeping in there and going in there for relief from the heat.
Otherwise things are looking up, and we're acclamating well. The kids have been so great. We spent the day out yesterday due to the heat (we went to Bryan/College Station).
Please keep praying for us. Also, I'm sick, so I haven't been able to help out much since I woke up.

Thanks guys!

Lauren
