Hey STL people (by which I guess I only mean Magnificat )..... is the DCJ sister above one of the two who came to Quotations for the Religious Q&A last month? She looks familar, and I've only met two sisters from that community!

It was fun, I am going to go back today! Ia m taking Sr. Mary Michael and her Superior down to the city to see the Cathedral and have a meal. I have to get going to pick them up!

Yup! She is...can't remember her name though.... ...nor do I remember the name of the other Carmelite...I think she's their vd? Maybe someone else can help me out here...

Sr. Mary Judith is their Vocation Director.

Unfortunately, I was too busy asking their opinion about "Therese" the movie to pay attention... darghhhhh.

This Sister, was very, very sweet though (and sooo happy).

They are the Carmelite Sisters of the Divine Heart of Jesus!

the Carmelites DCJ have 3 providences, Sr. mary judith is the vd for the norhtern providence...in other words, they have more than one vd.....Sr. M. Laura is the VD for the St. louis Providence. i like Sr. mary judith more though because she has been incontact with me longer than any vd from the St. louis providence.


But yeah, i remember that Sister from my visit in october...i cant remember if she was one of the few who square danced with me and rachel!!!! Oh well...great times!!!!

OBTW, I'm SOOOOOO JEALOUS!!!!!!! You got to meet Sr. Mary michael!!!! I'll be calling you today sometime after 2pm, i want to say Hi to Sister!!!!

I was hoping to make it there... I was wearing my phatmass t-shirt and everything in hopes I would have been there and seen someone... I'm sad I didn't make it, but I ended up spending most of the day with my sister, mom and grandpa...

We should have a Phatmass meetup at the next one. At least, for those of us who aren't already in convents/seminaries! lol.

I was soooo looking for you!

I have to say that today was a blessing, most certainly Divine Providence, the Sisters are such beautiful people. I arrived at the closing of The Here I am Lord Conference and was very priviledged to take Sr. Mary Michael and Sr. Mary Ana downtown to Chicago where we visited St. Peter's in the Loop, which is taken care of by the Franciscan Friars. Upon leaving there, the Sisters and I went to Holy Name Cathedral and arrived right in time to celebrate 5:15 p.m. mass.

Being there with the Sisters and hearing the readings was a special moment, something I will never forget. There is something JOYOUS about having religious come to your hometown and being able to share with them something that is unfamiliar and wonderful at the same time!

We also stopped at Bennigans for some chow!

Unfortunately, I did not want to make the Sisters feel like movie stars. I only took a few.

It was a blessing just to spend the day with them. I think I learned more in that day long experience (for my discernment) than ever!

Yeah it's like all my questions and anxieties were quelled. I think that I am inching closer to my YES to God and am closer to giving Him my All.

To me, they seem a lot like Alton...but their habits are soooooooooo awesome! Not that Altons are not, but you know...yeah..

I do see! Alton's habits are more like dresses. They are kind of tailored Actually they have a seamstress who isn't a Sister who makes their habits and postulant jumpers.

No, it wasn't a matter of needing a ride... my grandpa is in the hospital and has been getting worse for nearly a week now. I was with him or watching my sister for my mom while she was there and I also had to pick up my mom so she could take a shower and change clothes.
I don't know about IRL and I don't think I would be able to go because of the RE classes I teach. Maybe in the future... we shall see

Um...well you most certainly have my prayers.

The IRL conference is the best of the best vocation fairs. Not only is it on the 5 billion acres of one of the most beautiful seminaries, but ALL the orthodox communities are there. You tend to find all the habited Sisters/Nuns there. It's sponsored by the institute on religious life. Google the name and check out the website, you will see.

See if you have a class, it is Saturday April 22, 2006. Is there anyway you could go? I mean it will be sooo fun. Well, let me know later.

I have heard about the IRL Conference and have wanted to go for at least 2 years now, but I am absolutely positive that I have class that morning and I do not think it would be the best to show up in the middle of the day. I go to many of these things to chat with the religious and see what makes them 'tick.' Thanks for your prayers!

Well, well, well....

On our way back from South Bend, IN, we GOT STUCK IN THE CHICAGO (O'Hare) AIRPORT!!!

What a trip. Cancelations, delays, delays, change gates, delays, ...... We finally left the airport at 11:45 p.m. on Sunday night. We got into bed at 2:45 a.m. in Dallas at a motel, and then back to Amarillo yesterday afternoon.
