So as to not hijack other random threads, if any one else discerning in and around St. Louis wants to get together, either just to meet and hang out or to do something like shortnun was suggesting on the Lenten Discernent thread, PM me...or I guess since I started a thread, we can talk about it here too!

There's already a group operating out of the Cathedral Basilica, and y'all are more than welcome to join us. Magnificat, you know most of the people already (it's Jessie's project, basically, along with Fr. Keller's).
For the most part, we have a Holy Hour with benediction, and then do something afterwards.

When is that?

It varies... usually every other week or so, on average. Generally, on a friday night. Contact me via pm or facebook and I'll see if I can get you on the notification list.

"Where" is generally at the Cathedral Basilica or at my apartment (on SLU's campus). "When" is generally fluid... right now, it's roughly every other week or so. "How"... by the Grace of God.
PM me your email / contact info so I can forward it along to the appropriate people.

There's a Holy Hour with the St. Louis Poor Clares this Saturday, followed by a meeting with Mother Mary Leo in the parlor after the Holy Hour. Y'all interested?

I loved it. I've never met a cloistered nun before (I have a friend who's a cloistered postulant, but have never met anybody living the life). Mother Mary Leo was very sweet. She reminded me of a grandma--the sweet, caring type. It was kind of different speaking through the grille at first, but not a bad different. Praying Night Prayer was also different because we could hear the nuns, but couldn't see them.

I am glad to hear you had a wonderful time, They are such a beautiful community and yes mother Mary leo is very sweet! It is neat to pray with them in the public chapel and what I love is when I stay with them (well in the guest room as they do not have live-ins due to their vow of enclosure) to pray matins, they get up at 12:30am to pray and it's so peaceful in the chapel with just a little light and the candle lights and while the world sleeps the nuns are praying for them! I'll be visiting them again soon, and will ask them to pray for you and Please be assurred of my prayers for you also!!
God Bless You!

Are you going to the Veni Si Amas retreat?
Because if so, you must give a message my favorite postulant ever (Alyssa)! I didn't get any of the letters I wrote to her mailed before Lent, so she probably thinks I am being an awful friend when I could never get off work to buy stamps! You can tell her I (JVD) broke my foot at the March for Life, and that I will tell her the rest in a letter she will get (along with a Valentine and probably some other letters) at Easter. But most importantly, that I send lots of love and prayers!
Sorry for the thread hijacking!
BurkeFan, when do you have your meeting with the Dominicans?

Mar 7 2006, 03:34 AM
March 15th... Fr. Keller, Gregg (who was absent on Saturday) and I will be driving out to Cincinatti on the 14th.
Magnificat - It may be good to get a phatmass group going seperately that can be more of a straight up vocations group, rather than a group of friends discerning vocations.
OliveOrder88 - Most people in my group will be out of town due to spring break, so, we're probably out for this Saturday.
