Hi everyone! I just stumbles across this order's website. They look really good, and they wear full habit. They teach and have a steady prayer life. The website is kinda slow, but here's the address:

www.sjnovitiate.org

Have fun!

I'm confused when reading this website. This is what is says in FAQ: :Belong to the traditional Catholic Faith and not be associated with the Novus Ordo Church, schismatic groups, or groups with doubtful sacraments."

Why would belonging to an NO church be a bad thing? You may only belong to a TLM parish?

NOOO! Sorry, gals, but this group is not in communion with Rome! They are a branch of the Society of St. Pius V.

This is from their website talking about their priests "They believe that the new Mass and sacraments compromise the true Catholic Religion and do not convey and profess the Catholic Faith as defined by Our Lord Jesus Christ and passed down to us from the Apostles."

I got all excited when I first found them too, but then I looked up "Bishop" Kelly and saw they were not in communion. sad.gif

sorry to spoil the fun.....but there are lots of good orders out there!
HisChild
Yea, the more I read about them, the more I realized that this group wasn't Roman Catholic as we know it. Where did you find your quote about the priests?

The recognize the Baltimore Catechism as being 'the' Catechism as stated in one of their newsletters.

I'm just a little floored there are so many of them! I've seen a couple different orders like this and I always am amazed how there could be so many that do not wish to be in full Union with Rome.

It's on the SSPV homepage------Society of St. Pius V

I totally agree Denise, it's so sad that there are communities with great charisms that are out of line with Rome. The even sadder thing is that they are getting some young vocations...don't these girls know their are Latin Rite communities that ARE in communion??

If you looking for a community in communion with Rome that has the old mass there are some carmelites in Valparaiso, Nebraska that was founded by sisters from the convent in SF I just visited. They have the Tridentine mass and sing the Office in Latin. I can't access their website right now from school, but go to http://www.dioceseoflincoln.org/mauve/carmelite.htm to find a little about them or http://www.lasvegasmariancenter.com/carmel.htm (the site I can't access)

Well, darn, I thought I found one that was in communion with Rome! Sorry for the let-down, girls... how disappointing!

Where does it say on the website that they are Society of Pius V? I can't find it.

I know the Valparaiso Nuns and they were from Las Vegas...
HisChild
Yea, I thought they were from Vegas. I remember hearing about them when I lived in Vegas many years ago, but I could be wrong.
