wuts up ya'll ?? i dunno if anyone has taken the time to listen to his new songs.....if not i'd advice you do....this dude has extreme talent.......when you get to his soundclick page listen to route 66 http://www.soundclick.com/bands/songInfo.c...;songID=4421067
also listen to southside bounce........both incredible songs....well produced and most of all krush's flow is pretty sick.......now this brings me to the question.....as far as phatmass is concerned...is this music they would back ??? i think as an artist you can paint very vast pictures and still be doing it in Christ Name......what is catholic rap ?? and what will be expected and promoted by at least this particular movement known as phatmass.........i mean i think there can be many correct answers to this post...just because phatmass catholic rap would or wouldnt accept music like this doesnt make it catholic or not catholic...only God can make that final decision to wether someones fruit is good or rotton.....so ya...jus curious wut ya all thought about krush's music and the direction of the movement of phatmass rap.....holla
Apollo
Krush is dope.

Vatican Ninja is dope.

Therefore...Krush is Vatican Ninja??? idontknow.gif

Hmmm...I must get to the bottom of this one.

to start off I must say that I am in no way answering the question presented.
What I will say is be careful. Righteous B is also Catholic rap, but his music doesn't fit the specific mission of phatmass...so like in that example, it goes to show that all the talent in the world doesn't make one fit into a particular mission. That being said, I can't leave out the fact that the different missions and ministries are complementary and fit together as parts of the mystical body of Christ. People like Krush are needed to rep the King with the gifts God dispensed. I don't think the question that should be asked is "what is Catholic rap?"...what should be asked is "what is the mission of phatmass?"

Why shouldn't it be asked? Seems to me like it's asking the question, "What is Christian rap?" Or even better - "What is country music?" The question can be asked...you may get a ton of responses - but it can be asked.

To be honest - I really can't take the dude seriously. I mean, last time I caught his MySpace page - he had tons of pictures of himself without a shirt on, posin' like he was in an Abercrombie photo.

As far as his "mission" - I can't say what he's aiming for. Like I said - I can't take the dude seriously.
Era Might
Phatmass doesn't even have Hip Hop in its mission, so I don't know if there's any specific "criteria" for emcees to fit the "Phatmass mission". The mission is all about being a Catholic and bringing that to the world, but it doesn't specifically mention music. Maybe you could consider yourself a "Phatmasser" or a "Catholic" without being a "Phatmass rapper" or a "Catholic rapper". From the mission statement:

QUOTE
Our mission is to live and defend the faith given to us by Jesus Christ by remaining totally and completely obedient to the teaching authority of His Church.

That's a mission I share personally, but how I go about doing that is probably going to be different from how someone else might. But we're still both trying to live that mission.

I think what's most important as a "Christian" or a "Catholic" who makes music is that you bring that to everything you do. Not necessarily by talking directly about Jesus or Mary or whatever, unless that's what you do. You can point people to Jesus without mentioning his name. But, if you're swearing and talking about killing people, I don't think that's an authentic witness.

all im sayen is check out route 66 the song is nuts...now i dunno wut people will think of it....ur defitenally not gonna hear it on a christian radio channel....but theres no denying the rawness of it......it could compete with alot of secular stuff just on the production alone........listen to that song and comment on it...im interested to c wut you guys think.....

I can understand why you'd be offended by his abs... I don't think that has much to do with his music though. You didn't even comment on his music. Did you even listen to it?

My bad...

I'm not a fan of his music.

That's just my 2 cents, though.

I honestly feel like Krush is still confused about the direction he wants to go with his music. As far as what he has on Soundclick - I'm not feelin' it. That's just my opinion, though.

As far as his abs go - dude is DEFINITELY better looking than I am. No doubt! I have a keg - no 6 pack for me.

Kegz unite! I personally like a lot of his music. If you haven't checked it yet, try checking Lost Winter. That's one of my favs from him. When are you coming out with something new man? I havent heard ur stuff in a long time.

This is why christian music is not taken seriously because you guys argue about every little thing. Just listen to the music and if you dont like then good, great, say that. Not some over blown statement dissing a guy and his mission or music or whatever. Plus I dont think he really even cares of what anybody thinks of him.
dUSt
Phatmass would produce or support any Catholic musician who's message does not contradict the Catholic faith. Period.

You could be like Akalyte and make your Catholicism known in every song, P5C or Sammy Blaze, with Catholic stuff in many songs, but it not always being the main focus, or Righteous B or manChild from Mars ILL, who's music barely touches on specifically Catholic elements, yet, are still devout Catholics.

Phatmass is about reaching people. Our target audience is on millions of different levels, so our artists' messages should be delivered in a million different ways. If we want to reach all people, then we must support all levels and methods of evangelization.

The one rule is not to contradict the Church.

Ah man...Like I said before - it's not my steelo. If you feel it and enjoy his music - that's all good! I know that dUSt is a BIG fan of the Dixie Chicks - he even has posters of them in his studio. So - to each his own.

As far as me picking up the mic again? No plans in the near future, bro...I know that if I ever did again, there'd be a lot of work to do on my part. smile.gif
