Hey Everyone! I was just browsing the Dominican Sisters website when I found that they are having a retreat October 20-22! I haven't visited them personally, but they seem like a faithful Dominican community. They originated in Poland and are really looking to have American vocations.

Here is the community site------ Dominican Sisters of the Immaculate Conception

and if anyone knows about the community, please share! D.gif

I have a good friend who's discerning w/them. From what she's told me, they are a very orthodox community and have a strong Dominican spirit.

I didn't know we had cool 'new' Dominicans in Illinois (and all the other places)! Thanks for the post!

They've had a North American Province (Calgary, Alberta; Arkansas; Wisconsin; Illinois) for over 20 years now. They've just recently opened themselves to "American" vocations. And yes, it is very cool. cool.gif

Hi! I just thought I'd post here about their upcoming discernment retreat this year in October, http://www.sistersop.com/vocations_disc.html

I visited Rosary Hill for the first time not long ago, and it is really beautiful there, especially their outdoor grounds! I believe their Motherhouse there was just recently completed. I remembered seeing a video on them on VS once and was searching for it for a while, and finally found it, posted by dominicansoul here, so I thought I'd post it here too. Thanks for sharing with us this great video! Sarah Bauer also made a few other videos on different vocations, that are there on her site too.

THEY ARE INCREDIBLE! AND THEY DON'T ADVERTISE! The reason is, the Mother Superior said, "God will send us who we need."

They are just as solid, just as charismatic, just as DOMINICAN as the Nashville and Ann Arbor communities, (whom I know very well.) I discovered them one day, flipping through the CMSWR catalog! I couldn't believe it! Here is a link that may expose more of what they believe and stand for:

They have been here for 80 years. They are originally from Poland. Uh..oh! Now that PhatMass knows about them, the whole country will! :-) I told them I would SPREAD THE WORD! :-)

These sisters seem really cool... anyone thinking of going?

Pray for me! I am in the application process with them and have an entrance date (if everything goes well and I am accepted) on the Feast of the Holy Rosary (Oct. 7th!)

They are a very faithful bunch, very zealous, and looking forward to God sending them more and more vocations. They want to grasp whatever the Holy Spirit inspires them to do, and expand their apostolate to other areas of Evangelization. I am very excited, as I believe the good Lord is sending them more and more vocations, and I can see them growing an blossoming into a Dominican powerhouse for the Midwest!

Thanks for posting this info on the upcoming retreat. I will definitely be living there as a candidate if God wills at that time!

They're wonderful sisters. I've not yet been up to visit them in Justice, Illinois, but I've had the great opportunity to meet the sisters on other occasions.
