Our diocese is just getting this new order and it was in our diocesan newspaper. Their habits are white and they work in the hospitals and with children or whatever the bishop wants them to do. Does anybody have any knowege about them....have visited them?

Franciscans of John the Baptist? huh.gif

That name DOES sound familiar, although I'm thinking of a Franciscan group that only has about 4 in it, as they are relatively new. You'll have to let us know about them, when/if you discover more.

Please--which diocese are you in?

The SOLC would like to help them, even if they are active. We have a ministry to new communities--especially aspiring founders.

The Daughters of St. Francis of Asissi are on the Religious Life website and it says that there are 14 in the community. So, if 10 left to join this new community.... it sounds like there is more to it than meets the eye.
Maybe they need a new beginning?

That is odd! The write-up on cmswr ( http://www.cmswr.org/member_communities/DSFA.htm ) looks great. The apostolate looks to be the same and they are still in Illinois. I wonder why the need for a "new" foundation? idontknow.gif

Maybe it's a thing like with the Nashville Dominicans and SMME, maybe they just felt the need to create new, vibrent orders in places where they're isn't much religious life to be seen. But first, are you sure that the two orders are even connected? The habits look quiet different. idontknow.gif

The article in the post said they are going to change to white habits:

" The Sisters will adopt white habits in place of the black and white habits they wear now."

so i don't know.......
