Dear Friends,

Does anyone live in the St. Cloud area? I ran into several sisters in our Cathedral in St. Paul, MN. This is what I know about them:

i. Their habits are black and white with a wimple and rosary -really beautiful they looked cloistered at first but...
ii. They are active teachers from a teaching congregation...
iii. Stationed as part of a small mission...
iv. In the St. Cloud diocese...
v. With a devotion to St. Luis DeMontfort's Consecration to Mary.

I've looked all over the web trying to find the name of the community but ohno.gif
Anyone know who they are? (Yes, I've sent an e-mail to the diocescan VD)

Thanks,
Julie

The only black and white ones I know are the Hawthorne Dominicans and the Nashville Dominicans. I've ran into them several times.

That sounds like the Daughters of Mary, MOther of our Savior who are not in communion with the church: www.daughtersofmary.net

I know that sister, but blue believe it or not is easily confused with black- especially with religious habits, and the Daughters don't have a school in their Minnesota locations, though CMRI does, not to mention I found them.

That's too bad, but I sort-of expected as much.

I don't know why, but it was really akward: I went up to them to ask where they were from etc. and they seemed really nervous and didn't want to tell me about their community -it was like yanking teeth- so unlike most religious! Another odd thing, was I asked what rule they followed and the sister looked really confused! So, I started giving examples and she said no, no still looking like she didn't know what I was talking about and told me St. Luis DeMontfort -does he have a "rule", I didn't think so idontknow.gif It was an odd experience -but I LOVED their habits!

Thanks for all the info all!

They definitely looked black, but it was in a rather dark Cathedral so idontknow.gif And, we all know my history when it comes to confusing black and blue habits! lol.gif ninja.gif

I've noticed that many sedevacantist orders are reluctant to display their status on their websites - or if they do, they couch it in very innocuous language. Why is this? Are they ashamed of their position?
brendan1104
Maybe- but you catch more flies with honey... they don't want to scare people off. And all the CMRI sisters I've met (a few) have been open about their community, their Rule (based on the Servites and other Marian orders along with montfortian spirituality) so maybe it wasn't that group? idontknow.gif

I've got another idea. Was it them:

or them:

Or another community?

They have such beautiful habits!! Too bad they aren't in communion with the church... sad.gif

The habits are gorgeous, but I think they're a little too fussy for my taste. I believe that nuns and religious sisters should be identifiable as such, but they do have a spirit of holy poverty to consider - can so much voluminous fabric (whic, additionally, must be really hard to keep clean) be justified in this day and age?
LilyofSaintMaria
Gee, I hate when I come across sisters that seem to have such a strong love of the church and a beautiful way of life, but they are quite mixed up in the way of Union with Christ's vicar. I came across the Singing nuns a couple times before . . . I just wish . . .
