Did he say that the first Sunday of Lent is the 800th anniversary of the order??The first Sunday of ADVENT is the 800th anniversary of the founding of the NUNS. The Order's anniversary will be in 2016. The nuns were founded 10 years before the Order was founded. So you could say that we were DOMINICANS before anyone else!
There is a lot of confusion in the Order about this anniversary. Because the nuns are part of the Order it is the Order's anniversary, too!

Thanks for clarifying sister!! As, God willing, a future Dominican I am excited too! I found a site that mentioned the pope has declared Dec 3 2007-Epiphany 2008 as a Jubilee year. How wonderful for the order and what a wonderful year for me to enter
Rather Sister Dominic is a very good speaker, ^(SMC) I love learning about the nuns, its amazing, I feel one with them! I mean if you honestly went through all their history (and Summit's alone) you would be willing to promote vocations no matter how active you think you are.

I would rather say that the Nuns are not just part of the Order, but the sine qua non bedrock and foundation of the Order!
