Just to keep you updated, Sr. Sadora, who entered the Sisters of the Lord and Virgin of Matara on September 8, 2006 recieved the religious habit of the order and her new name!
Here is the link to the pictures of the Ceremony
Sr. Sadora's new name is Sr. Maria Uriui Kipum. The other novices are:

Sr. Maria Parousia (Maryland)
Sr. Mary Dawn of Salvation (Texas)
Sr. Maria Virgo Offerens (Kansas)
Sr. Mary Our Lady of Peace (California)
Sr. Maria Templum Divinitatis (California)
Sr. Marie de Prouille (Washington State)
Sr. Mary of Ephesus (Washington State)
Sr. Mary Missionary of the Cross (Illinois)
Sr. Maria Nadiya Beznadiynych (Philadelphia)
Sr. Maria de Chiquinquira (Colombia, Bridgeport, CT)

For those who are wondering... all the sisters of the order take a version of Mary (Mary, Miriam, Maria, Marie, etc) plus either
(a) an invocation of Mary (of the Annunciation, Moher of Hope) or
(b) a place relating to her (Bethlehem or an apparition site) or
© an event from the life of Christ (Mary Mother of Jesus Crucified)
The founder's intention for this was that the Sisters, when calling to one another throughout the day, would constantly invoking the intercession of Our Lady. love.gif

Please pray for the 11 new novices of the Servidoras!

Mary, Cause of our Joy, pray for us!

Thanks for the update! I knew I was overdue to check out their site..... wow, that was a short postulancy for Sr. Maria Uriui Kipum, but yay for getting the habit sooner! Does anyone have some insight on her name? They get really interesting names, but I often have no idea where they come from! LOL. I have to say I really like Sr. Marie de Prouille's name, very Dominican.....

Congrats to the novices and their families! taco.gif taco.gif

Can I just say that these sisters are hilarious... I went to one of their convents ( the juniorate?) with some girls from my school for pizza once. They played some INTENSE ping pong. Maybe someday I will play against Sr. Maria Uriui Kipum.

smile.gif Thank you for sharing these lovely pictures. Sr Sadora was certainly "fast tracked" into the novitiate to become Sister Uriui Kipum. I couln't recognise her in the pics but all the new noices looked radiantly happy on their special day and I send my blessings to them all. lol.gif

This order is so darn cool, it is wonderful that they are growing. 11 is a lot of novices!
Sr. Maria Uriui Kipum must be so happy, they all look radient! How do you pronounce her name? Do they pick the names or are theypicked for them?

Could someone explain her name to me? I am sorry, is she from another country? I don't mean to sound ignorant, but not sure what the name means. Is this an American order of sisters? Have never met any. Some of the chosen names seem a little unusual.

I don't know many of the answers to your questions, but I am pretty certain that they pick their own names, if they want to. I know many of the Sisters aren't sure which to choose, so they ask their superiors for recommendations.
The Sisters take names that have to do with Mary. Some choose to take names that are places relating to the Blessed Mother. One Sister took the name of a small town near Nazareth where it is believed Mary is from (I can't remember exactly what it is...). Other Sisters take places of apparitions (Talpa, Guadalupe, Fatima).

Is this an American order of sisters?

Nope. The order was founded around 20 years ago in Argentina. The Sisters that recieved the habit are members of the American province.

The formation for the Servidoras is:
3 months- 1 year Postulancy
1 yeah Canonical Novitiate, at the end of which first vows are made.
Vows are renewed once a year for 3 years and one time for 3 years, after which final vows are made.

I'll try to ask Sr. Almah what Sr. Maria Uriui Kipum's name (as well as some of the others' names) mean when I speak to her next.

Ok -- now I've found an order with a short formation period! :-)

I thought 6 months Postulancy/1.5 year Novitiate was short! The servidoras beat that!
