While I'm very happy being the phamily's resident "DCJ" P.gif , I've been visiting the Servidoras, too!

PP and I went on a trip to the sanctuary of Our Lady in Heiloo, which for Dutch standards is Very Far Away for me (though in the same diocese...) and The Other End of the World for PP. The sisters have a new foundation there and they want to start a community of young adults (20 and up) who will meet monthly for spiritual formation and, well, being a family! (If there are any Dutch lurkers around, we HIGHLY recommend them). We'll also go on a pilgrimage to Rome... love.gif

The sisters know how to get young adults to join: "Do you want some coffee? It's free!" "Do you want to go to Rome? It'll be very cheap. Very cheap, no?"

We also viewed a DVD with interviews of the founder and Mother M. Anima Christi, who is Dutch (as you probably know), which was really cool. She's so lovely! We saw how she visited some children's homes and there were kids climbing all over her as soon as she opened the door of the car.

M. Milagro, the head of this house, is wonderful, too - she walked around all "her" young people patting everyone on the shoulder and gave me a great big hug (although I was there for the first time). I'll be having a talk with her tomorrow, because I'm going up there again (the third time THIS YEAR, all the way to what feels like the North Pole, although PP will scold me for this, twice as high up North as she is) to meet my spiritual director, and I might as well ask Mother some questions about houses of formation and the like while I'm there anyway smile.gif

Well, the bottom line is, I think, if you're Dutch, go to Heiloo. Warning: you WILL be recruited by the sisters to convert your entire school/university/work place.

Basically, what VA said, both about how cool the Servidoras are and how blinkin' far away it is (I've just sat on trains for nearly three hours - yes, I know that for the USAns and Canucks here that simply takes you to your next door neighbours, but over here life is different - have just got in and for some strange reason am reading Phatmass instead of having lunch. Foei!)!

I don't know if it's because of their happiness in their vocation or because they all seem to be Argentinian or a mix of both, but they are so wonderfully open. There's a real joy that simply radiates from their hearts. It's thrilling to know that they're here in the Netherlands!

Love and prayers,

PP

That is wonderful, glad you both had a wonderful visit, and these sisters sound just full of life, might I ask out of curiosity, what type of order this is, I've never heard of them, Hope all goes well in your discernment with them! smile.gif

God Bless You!
