When asking for donations in regards to entering a religious community and need some help with funding...I come from a situation where I'm working in a State and its not my orginal (home) diocese....I have already received donations from my hometown parish. What do I do if there are many Catholic parishes here, but I go to Church at various ones throughout the week. Do I ask a few of the parishes...or one? Or how would I go about doing that? Thank you again for your thoughts.
God Bless,
Ali

I would talk to someone you know at each parish and ask them to help you spread the word that you need assistance.
Once I officially apply (and am accepted), I'll have to work out my debt, too. And I fall in the same situation as you-- I'm no longer living in my "home state" and go to three parishes on a regular basis here. But making a personal contact, and getting your need to spread by word of mouth is powerful. Also, these parishes might be open to you putting a letter in their bulletin.

Would parishes be open to allowing a bulletin insert on your behalf? Or a blurb in the bulletin?

Perhaps you can ask some priests who you know to get you in contact with parishoners he thinks may be interested/able to help you and hten you can talk to them on a little more private-type setting. Or perhaps you could try to put together a "bake sale" of sorts and ask people to donate after Mass.

My suggestion would be to also go beyond local parishes. I believe that the Knights of Columbus and the Serra Club provide financial assistance to those entering a religious community. I would start with the Serra Club. If you go on line you will get the International website. I happen to know the International President. If you run into any road blocks let me know.
