I am not one for being sick, I hardly ever get sick but last night I was.

I kept thinking about the saints and wondered how they got thru there sufferings.

Mom found out I was sick and came up offering her support, I told her "I don't like being sick, but I offer this up to God for the salvation of souls" and my mom stood up and replied back to "That's just like you, always thinking of others".

Being sick is no fun, but when you are, offer it up for the salvation of souls, and remeber the saints sufferings, and you'll rejoice in your little sufferings.

Yep, being sick is no fun, and it's always so much easier to say when you're not suffering, to offer it up. Suffering is only a word really .. but when you're going through it, it's something totally different ..

As for me, I'm terrible at offering things up like that without complaint. Pray for me! I remember in the film The Passion of Bernadette, (which is supposed to be pretty close to the real St Bernadette) her saying she didn't like suffering. She was sitting in bed talking with a priest, who noticed she had a holy card of her patron, St. Bernard, and she was saying she is not like St. Bernard, because he loved suffering for God, but she did not ...

You're right, pleasure does not come in suffering but joy and peace can be found when you suffer for Christ, when you suffer for others. How powerful suffering could be if only more people would embrace it, and not fear it! I can't say I am good with suffering, or I take joy in suffering, but I try my hardest to do it without complaint. I fail sometimes, but I'm still learning. I'll pray for you Margaret Clare, but just stay humble and in love with Christ. Ask Jesus to teach you how to suffer with Him. God Love and Bless you,

Thank you for your support, I love St.Bernadette and have watched the movie, "the song of Bernadette".

I am feeling much better and I thank God for helping me be better, I do try to be more and more like the siants even thou sometimes it feels like I can't endure.

Glad to hear you are feeling better, yes being ill is NO fun and at times it's very hard to offer up, but just keep praying to god for strength and guidance, Get better soon!
