Just wondering about this...I talked to some girls who entered the Sisters Servants of the home of the mother this weekend. They are an awesome community but the one reacurring thing that I noticed that some of the girls had an adversion to this particular life. One girl only wanted a community with a FULL habit and the Sister Servants had a more modified habit. My question is...if one does have an adversion does it mean that they are called possibly to this life? Just wondering what you guys think...Thanks!

Yes, being adverse to the calling can be a great sign. It's usually our pride getting in the way.

Adversion can be part of the vocation but if it continues after one is in the community awhile than it must be careful examined. Is the aversion about essentials or simply likes and dislikes for example the sister who wanted a "full" habit.
Is one happy despite the aversion? Is the person flourishing humanly and spiritually?
This is a very delicate area and one which must be discerned with a spiritual director. St. Thomas does speak about this somewhere but I forget at the moment! And some saints have felt this when starting the life but then found joy and contentment and the grace to let go of what they thought was essential but what was really secondary!
Is it me or is the Phatmass board REALLY tiny? I can barely see the type!

Ditto Sr. Mary Catharine. Aversion is a really general topic and it needs to be analyzed specifically for each person, imo.

Yeah it deffinitly just depends on the person
God has always used Affermation with me but... one never does know what God is going to do next.

At the beginning of my discernment, I was very against the idea of the religious life. But I prayed to Him and asked Him to change my desires to be in line with His. He has changed my desires... I want what I used to have an aversion to.
Just ask Him to change your desires. Sacrafice them to Him... He may not change them, and let that be a guide. But if He does start to change your desires, do not hesitate or resist. It is the Holy Spirit.
