You know, its really the most amazing thing and our Lord's love is soooooooooo infinite that do you realize He could of created a zillion other people then us, you or me...I'm sure daily at least for me the boiling question I have in my mind other then about my vocation and where God and what God wants me to do for my gift of love back to Him is, "Why me Lord?" ME! An unworthy sinner, and He loves to hear us say that, because we are not worthy of grace and its echo's of His mom - Its funny, I was in the a hospital a few weeks ago and my pastor Father Dennis Zehren surprised me with a long visit, I hadnt a clue he was coming, and I swear I had half the world praying for me I was so grateful, -my mom had thought it was my dad dad, my biological one, anyway a whole new story- and of course becoming Catholic from whatever former faith or even being a former Catholic and leaving the Church, we should all know the sacraments we receive -again we are unworthy- Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist, and I hope all of us have an opportunity to go to Confession as much as possible. To sum up the number of sacraments there are, there are 7, 7 is a good number, yes some of theses are repeatable and for me its funny, I've been mentored by several of these great wonderful and still unworthy nuns, -The Lockport Dominicans, my Summit Dominican Family, a couple of the IHM's, Sister Colleen, Nashville, etc...the list can go on and on- and got a real good two year head start in learning about the faith, I havent even been a Catholic for a year and I already received five out of the seven, we can imagine, hint: hospital - which sacrament that was, and I think its soooooooooooooooo awesome, and I look back on these three years to be exact when all of this started and I marvel, what a witness! What a grace and blessing!! Its such an eye opener, and hopefully for all of us that has been the eyes of our heart. "God works miracles perpetually if we have the eyes to see, how can you open your eyes if you will never allow them to close for fear see it for what it is.” That quote from Sister Joseph Andrew of the retreat on Holy Saturday just before the First Sunday of Lent. You realize she is saying something very Dominican here, the motto of our order being Veritas which means truth, you do not fear truth, you fear falsity - and one of the other main theme's Sister pointed out was trusting and loving God, you cant do or say and mean one without the other, it doesnt work that way, when we all gave our "fiat" one way or the other, and say "I LOVE YOU LORD!" We are committing to trusting Him, fully, and this analogy can sum that up - again from Sister Joseph Andrew, "If He says walk on water, then get walking, nothing to figure out, if you have a mathematical mind throw it to the wind, if you have a scientific mind forget about it God can make the water solid if He wants to, He does it all the time in ice cube trays, I don’t see the big deal."
And there is no waiting for us, Sister pointed out that one of the challenges for the John Paul II generation will not be challenges from generations years ago or even years after, the challenge for us in the JPII generation is acting fast enough on those graces and blessings - and thats not meaning to act instantanelously or jump far that we go over, its a manner of grabbing ahold of God's feather and just hanging on and flying with Him. We DO not have to wait, granted if there is another year or whatever to a DIFFERENCE you have to make, I dont consider that wait, I consider that "a positive decision to continue to move forward and ever deeper in the spiritual life." I wouldnt sum that up as a wait.
And I say good for us. Let us go out with a bang this Lenten seasons, and rejoice and be grateful, we are so unworthy.
Alter Maria!
O Lord how I completely long to be with you! Just you and me, to do Your most Holy and Sacred Will to live amongst community and to spread Veritas to everyone, Lord Your love grows EVERYDAY in my heart, sometimes I cannot bear it any longer, as it rests on me, then O Lord how beautiful - I fall in love with YOU each day more and more, help me to embrace the intensity of Your love Lord - You put peace and joy, happiness into this unworthy sinners heart, rejoice! Rejoice!
