Pax et Bonum,

Saint Teresa of the Andes - Letter 51 - #2

“The Carmelite prays for sinners. At each moment she immolates herself for sinful mankind, and she does everything in silence. She loves God and in God thinks about those who do not love Him. She suffers as much in her heart, in her spirit, as well as in her body, for those who give themselves up to pleasures, and this is seen only by God. Creatures do not understand this. They say that it is useless. Nevertheless, how many rays of divine Justice are turned away from the world because they take them upon themselves!”

Thank you so much for this!

It reminds me of the tremendous lightning storms we used to get during the heavy rains in Saudi Arabia. The whole sky would be shattered into fragments by streaks of jagged blue fork-lightning. Lightning always seeks the quickest way to reach earth, meaning that it's likely to strike the tallest object around. The lightning is God's justice (not only punitive, but illuminating) and the nuns are the tall objects standing alone on the plain.

I can't wait until I can be an official lightning-conductor. smile.gif
