As many of you know, I am applying to the Sisters of St. Francis of Perpetual Adoration. This thread is a continuation of "Visiting Religious Sisters of Mercy"... I moved it because it's now a different topic! It's now my journey to apply and see what happens...
So I finished the paperwork and sent it in mid-March, and yesterday Sister Lois and I schedule a time for my interview!! The date is set for May 13th... I don't know what we will be talking about, but it's the 2nd step in a VERY long process!
I just wanted to share the news that I am moving to the next step in the process! Praise God!

Jenny, thanks for starting this thread. I believe you are applying to a very fine community, and I think your giving them some exposure here on PM might prompt others to give them a second look. I really enjoyed the video they did a while back of the "Rappin' Nuns"! Hopefully they will update their website to reflect the growth in their novitiate! God bless and have a glorious Easter!

I'll keep you in prayer. I think you should look upon it as a sign that Our Lady is specially watching over you since your interview date is on the feast of Our Lady of Fatima.

This community gives good retreats. It is certainly a time to spend peaceful time with Our Lord. Keep looking on the website for retreat opportunities.

And how we anticipate seeing you in Rappin nuns part 2!! Best of luck and keep us informed. This looks like such a solid group, and very joy filled.

Update: The interview may be moved to April 29th. Sister Lois needs to find some stuff out with her schedule, and she will let me know if that is possible...
Also I emailed her and let her know that I am totally free to enter this fall, and she said "that coming in the fall sounds like a great plan"! Horray!!!

April 29th is the feast of St. Catherine of Siena....a good Dominican saint can pray for you as you move toward your Franciscan vocation!

Sister Lois sent me a tentative entrance date: September 9th! This is the day they have had the postulants enter the past couple of years, and it seems to work really well. So that will probably be the day!!!!

I don't think she would have mentioned that if she didn't think there was a good chance for your acceptance, especially since your next meeting with the sisters is still a few weeks away. That's great!

Hi All! Thanks for the prayers! Everything went wonderfully!
I got more papers to fill out for the psychological evaluation and 4 books to read about St. Francis, Mother Theresia Bonzel (foundress), Chastity, and religious life in general. I have my work cut out for me!

I have dates for my phone interview and my psychological evaluation! Praise God!
I will have my phone interview with Sister Marysia, RSM who will be doing my psychological evaluation. I don't know what we will talk about over the phone, but oh well. This will be June 7th at 3pm, central time.
My psychological evaluation is scheduled for June 18th. I have to take a couple of days off of work because I have to drive to Mishawaka, then Sister Lois and I will travel up to Alma to see Sister Marysia at the Religious Sisters of Mercy. She is a psychiatrist and she does all of the psychological evaluations for my community.
Sister Lois was surprized that Sister Marysia was open so early... most of the time we have to wait at lease a month after calling to get an appointment, but June 7th is only in a couple of weeks! This is a good thing because I am nervous for this step! Eeek!

After the psychological evaluation stuff is finished, I will come back home and Sister Lois and I will meet again to discuss the outcome of the evaluation. I will then meet with the Sister Treasurer of the community to discuss financial stuff. I don't really know what that means, but I will find out! I will also be fitted for my postulant's habit! Yeah!

After that step, all I have left is the final acceptance interview, which will again, take place on a seperate visit.
I can't believe how much I have already grown with this journey. I am so glad that my community has a candidacy because I already feel more prepared for postulancy...

I had a dream the other night that I received the habit and the name Sister Judith Mary... I thought it was funny because I NEVER dream about religious life or nuns!

My psychological evaluation in in TWO WEEKS!!!! EEEK!

You'll do fine! It is nothing to worry about seriously! I wouldn't stress over the psychological evaluation if I were you.....it is nothing too big...trust me!

As others have said -- don't worry about the psych eval. I went through it for the 1st community I entered ... it went fine (well, fine enough anyway so that I could enter postulancy). In fact -- I'm not sure if anything was flagged because the community did not share the results, but I figured that if there was a problem they'd tell me.

I don't imagine there will be any problems, but it still makes me nervous for some reason. There is a follow-up meeting with Sister Lois about the findings of the evaluation as part of the application process. So I am required to know my weaknesses and strengths... it's just a scary thing to look reality in the face...

By the way... I love all the updates the sisters are doing on their websites. I took summer courses at a parish in Mishawaka the past two summers and am very bummed to not be going up this summer. I used to pray in the sisters' chapel!
