I have seen a lot of those Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist in my diocese. I think they have a community here. I don't know much about their ministry, but I have seen them at various events on on the Catholic campus.

The Fraciscan Sisters of the Eucharist are very educated... they do all kinds of work. Psychology, medicine, farming, ect. They remind me a lot of the Religious Sisters of Mercy.

Here is a picture of some nuns of the "Piccola famiglia dell'Annunziata", the italian community about whom we have talked about in the Brothers' Pics thread (here and here)

Sisters at Saint Walburga Abbey, cloistered Benedictines in Colorado.

I know that there is a Saint Walburga Abbey in Colorado but these Sisters are from Germany, exactly from my hometown Eichsteatt there are also Benedictine Sisters and the Abbeys name is also St. Walburg because her grave is there and i think they made a foundation in the 1940's in the USA wich maybe is the Colorado Abbey...

The Sister at the forefront is Sr. Maria del Anima Christi, the superior (for a couple more months, I believe). She's Dutch. We're all terribly proud wink.gif

I believe the Brothers in Argentina do have grey habits while in formation, and maybe even blue scapulars (not entirely sure about that). One of the Sisters told me a story about vacation time: the Sisters that go trekking in the hills let their hair grow, and when they come back for the Start of Term feast (something like that) and haven't had time to cut it, strands of hair will come out from under their veil. Once, at that feast, some of the Brothers had "borrowed" a set of spare veils (and maybe scapulars too, if they didn't have them), and wore them with all their hair sticking out in front to make fun of their sisters! Of course, they all thought it hilarious (that's what they're Blue Sisters for, after all smile.gif ).

Does anyone know where to find pictures of the Fr. Pablo Straubs' womens Order, The Consecrates of the Most Holy Savior? They are the most joyful sisters I have ever met in my life. Currently they are only in Mexico (at least they were only there as of last summer).

The Brothers, once in formation (novitiate), wear the black cassock, even in Argentina. The don't wear any blue, although some of them wear a pin that has the initials IVCE- (I believe that's the order) which is latin for "the Word Incarnate became flesh"

Thanks! I knew they wear the cassock once they're priests, but I wasn't sure about formation time.

these photos are so nice. But I'm still hoping someone will find the nuns who wear lavendar full habits and veils, and also the ones I saw who wear yellow. Darn, I wish I had been able to snap pictures of them in Rome!

I think maybe the sisters with lavender habits might be sisters from the Insitute of Divine Mercy, a new institute in the diocese of Dallas.

The Institute of Divine Mercy in Dallas was suppressed a number of years ago. They wore grey with a black veil.

Is someone trying a renewal or something?

these are early pics of when the Capuchin Sisters of Nazareth, were called
Capuchin Recollect Sisters -1997-and were in New Bedford, i believe founding from one or 2 original Sisters going along to start the CFR Sisters back in the day with the CFR renewal of the capuchins..but eventually some left and started this..
"as they settle into their radically primitive lifestyle here after having left a more active (new) Capuchin convent in New York City."

Sister Theresa May

the sisters depend "totally on Divine Providence". They don't even accept monetary donations for their ministry work in the field, missions and retreats, for example.
Candidates for membership in the community would spend anywhere from six months to two years as postulants, followed by a two-year novitiate, with simple or temporary vows taken usually in about four years. A college education would not be required.
Why is Sister Superior called "sister" rather than "mother" as is the practice in other orders? She says the sense of being "minority" -- someone of no importance -- is strong in the Franciscans. "I'm a sister with a special job. Oh, I'm motherly in my concerns about the sisters, about nurturing them, but I'm not above them."

These were taken when they were living in the huge convent at St. Anthony parish in New Beford Ma. Now they are in PA www.capuchinsisters.org and the Franciscan Sisters of Mary Immaculate just moved into the 3rd floor. The 2nd floor is being used by a program for at risk children. That's how big the convent is. It was built for 40 sisters!
These pictures make the convent look nice but sadly, it needs a huge amount of work.
The parish is so beautiful:www.saintanthonynewbedford.org
I invite you to take their online tour and see how beautiful the church is.
Please pray for the pastor,Fr. Roger Landry, a longtime friend of mine, who is struggling to revitalize the parish both materially AND especially, spiritually.

I know them!!! I used to pass their convent every day on my way to class (In Rome)! I even talked to a few of them once. They have one convent that is right behind the Vatican walls, about halfway up Vatican Hill.

These are picutures of the nuns of the "Order of most Holy Annunciation" (Monache dell' Ordine della Santissima Annunziata) also known as "monache celesti" or "monache turchine"
This is a contemplative cloisterd order founded by the blessed Maria Vittoria De Fornari Strata in 1604 in Genoa (Italy).
The word "celeste" in italian language means "of the color of the sky" wich is the color of thei habit.

Most important monateries of these order are:

Venerabile Monastero della Santissima Annunziata ed Incarnazione
via Pietro Dellepiane 49, San Cipriano di Serra Riccò, 16010, Genova (Italy)

Monastero della Santissima Annunziata
Via Portuense 771 - 00148 Roma (Italy)

A happy group of novices and postulants (Daughters of Mary Mother of Our Savior)
Blessed Imelda Pray for Us
Hey I think this last group, Daughters of Mary Mother of Our Savior, are sedevacantist

On their website one of the requirements to join is : "Belong to the traditional Catholic Faith and not be associated with the Novus Ordo Church, schismatic groups, or groups with doubtful sacraments. "

Also their founder seems to be a sedevacantist bishop : Bishop Clarence Kelly

Total chaos? smile.gif

The brothers originated from a group of men who studied under a Dominican (woo!) friar. Because the Dominicans didn't accept new vocations in France, they formed their own community directed by Fr. Marie-Dominique Philippe. They want to be "a family of God's children", with Jesus and Mary. Their main apostolate is with the young, and they go everywhere they're sent to smile.gif (Our bishop is heavily jealous, er, happy for the bishop of Rotterdam (our southern neighbour) because there are brothers AND contemplative sisters there.)

The brothers are all active, the sisters have an active and a contemplative branch. The contemplative sisters wear a white veil (with whimple!) because their founder said something along the lines of "one should always feel as a novice" (translating in my head from French to Dutch to English makes things go weird smile.gif ). The active sisters wear veils in the colour of their habit (dark grey, in some areas lighter grey). The professed have whimples.

That's all I can say... probably mostly incorrect smile.gif. But as I understand there are a lot of St. John fans around here, they'll be able to help smile.gif

We are Blessed to have a few of these sisters in a Convent here in Freeport IL.

They are Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Mother of Christ

You can't Miss them! They really stand out in that bright Blue!

What a Great Bunch of women! They have the main convent in Rockford and a few of them here in Freeport. Several Go to Highland community College where they are studying nursing. One of them won our family's yearly scholorship in Biology last year. It's not alot of money but I was thrilled that one of the sisters had won!

They are really a blessing to our community.

they're so beautiful! i feel so in love when i see nuns. if i see one that is extra pretty and doing something reverent, it feels like my heart is going to burst. almost to the point where i feel kind of "wrong" almost. maybe because it reminds me of Mary.
oh how i wish everyone were in habits or at least dresses and veils, instead of the torture i have to go through each day at school or at the gym.. funny, i once was told i should move to the middle east.

if you think that's bad, sometimes i have to stop by a catholic girls school with all these girls in short skirts looking like britney spears. it gets so bad that i have to keep my eyes glued to the ground or else i'll pass out.

You guys who hate trashy dressing should have t-shirts printed up that say: "LEAVE SOMETHING TO THE IMAGINATION!" Get out the message that a lot of guys like a more conservative and classy look.
