"The Apostolic Sisters of Saint John strive to be both hidden in God with Christ, through Mary, and witnesses of God's love for mankind.

Their apostolate begins with the sign of their consecrated life, in prayer and in manual and intellectual work.
"To be consecrated to God, at the service of the Church, to lead a communal life in order to fully practice fraternal charity, to become ever more deeply rooted in the mystery of the Eucharist, the mystery of Mary, and the mystery of Peter in the person of the Holy Father and the bishops." (Constitutions, 25).

"Bring ye to the Lord, O ye kindreds of the Gentiles, bring ye to the Lord glory and honour:

bring to the Lord glory unto his name. Bring up sacrifices, and come into his courts:

adore ye the Lord in his holy court. Let all the earth be moved at his presence.

Say ye among the Gentiles, the Lord hath reigned. For he hath corrected the world, which shall not be moved: he will judge the people with justice.

Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad, let the sea be moved, and the fulness thereof:

the fields and all things that are in them shall be joyful. Then shall all the trees of the woods rejoice

before the face of the Lord, because he cometh: because he cometh to judge the earth. He shall judge the world with justice, and the people with his truth. "

Those pictures are gorgeous (of the Monastic Sisters of Bethlehem... etc.)! Their habit is SO simple, but I think that's what makes it, and their life, so beautiful.

The sisters of Bethlehem are not monastics , they are hermits smile.gif

they are Monastic-Hermits..since some are involved with less solitude, and others with more solitude, to differing degrees....pure solitary hermits would be well, truly 24 hour solitary with no Communtiy support/structure, at least directly , but the Bethlehem Communities have Meals and Recreations on Sundays together etc., and Divine Offices together, except Mondays ..if one ones to nit pick.

As of now, they are a very small order. They only have 5 sisters in NH. They branched off from another order recently so they're kind of just starting out.

Thank you EJames - no I didn't write to him directly except through e-mail. My e-mails were never answered. I did write to the Sister of Bet Gemal and they never answered.

EJames I wanted to ask you another question. There is a photo that you posted of the Bethlehem Sisters. The photo number is 561876. Do you know which monastery this photo is from? On the video, in the frame right before this one, they also show the sanctuary. Could you post a picture of the sanctuary please? I really love this church.

Many thanks - I'll let you know if I hear from Hanan Isachar.

To add photos (must be online):
Hit Fast reply
Click on the "insert photo button" (5th from the left)
and insert the link for photos.

I don't know if there's a way to post personal photos directly from your computer. I think you have to put them on photo bucket or some other site first. Not sure though... you should ask someone more technologically advanced than I.

it seems the first 12 posts (out of 590), and some other ones scattered throughout no longer exist due to the link/hotlink being outdated-deleted, or linking site (like Hotlinkfiles.com) going out of business.
