Definitely off topic for this phorum -- but the situation is pretty serious (I know the family quite well). See below. Thanks in advance.

Hi to everyone:

Asking for you to pray for a young teenage girl -- her name is Salcia. She and her mom got into a serious car accident last night. She had brain surgery last night -- we're not sure of the outcome; but right now they've left the brain open because of the swelling. Her family is very active in the Parish, and Salcia is an altar server and involved in the youth group. Please feel free to pass this prayer request to other prayer warriors. God Bless you and thanks in advance for the prayers.

An update -- she's out of critical condition. She opened her eyes over the weekend and moved a hand. It does sound like she has a long road to recovery yet. Thanks for the prayers (hopefully I'll be able to visit her in the hospital this week).

For those who prayed -- appologies for not posting sooner. She's undergoing therapy now; but as of the last that I had heard she had started talking again and remembering things. She also started playing video games in the hospital. In addition -- it turned out that she was able to hear everything that had been said -- she specifically remembered her father praying at her bedside and reading scripture to her.

I believe that they haven't yet done the surgery to put the piece of her skull back in place (they had removed it to help with the swelling). But she is doing better. I still haven't gotten a chance to see her yet.

One of the wonderful miracles that had happened is the sheer number of people from Church (a number of different parishes) that have helped out. Either praying, getting food to the parents, visiting, etc. I was told that the night of the accident the waiting room was full of Catholic Church goers praying for the girl.

:-)

Finally there's a number of us that suspect that God will use this girl in a mighty way after this.

Thanks again!
