are these Sisters? i assume?

I asked them about their rosary that they offer and the response that I got was from a female... so I assume that they are Sisters... or lay women in formation? hard to tell.

i live the Atlanta archdiocese, and I've never heard of them...

there is a women's religious community in the early stages of forming....but their name will have something to do with the Holy Spirit and their apostolate will be Youth Ministry and Catechetics...this community is in the very early early stages...as in just having met with the bishop not to long ago about forming...the girls interested aren't even in formation yet.

for more on that, you can just keep checking our archdiocese vocations' website: http://www.calledbychrist.org

Seeing as this diocese is my "old stomping ground"-I'm very intruiged by this community in possible formation. Do you have any more info that you could offer by post or PM?

Thanks to you and Gemma both for offering new info on such communities. smile.gif

I t hink there was a group of this name associated with the Trappist abbey in that area. Maybe they could be related?

Yup, they're at the monastery in Conyers... it's listed on their website.

You can search for "Heather Triggs"...she's the one forming the community. She is the DRE at Holy Spirit in Atlanta.

A former Atlanta, I was recently on the Archdiocesan vocation webpage and was thrilled to learn that a support group for women high school and college+ has finally been established. So I emailed Heather---who you mentioned above. And she did mention the community be in the very, very early stages of formation. Sounds very interesting to me. The diocese is so blessed to see such growth in the past 10+ years.

If anyone is interested in contacting Heather about the possibility of this community, please PM me and I will pass on her info.

Are they in communion with Rome? Or just forming?

Both the Little Ones of Jesus Crucified and this other archdiocesan community are just forming. The latter is really in the brand-new stages.

Call me jaded, but I'm very wary of any community that has a gender neutral name. wacko.gif

If those of you making contact with these founders could please tell them I'm running a "founders forum" private, by-invitation-only Yahoo group. We'd like for them to join--please give them my email address: foundress2003@yahoo.com.

Sorry if that's disjointed. In a hurry.

Blessings,
Gemma

Not to pick on anybody, but the Community of St Jean has a gender-neutral name, and from what I've read here, they are highly thought of on these boards!

Community of St. Jean was already mentioned... and off the top of my head, I can think of....

OP- Order of Preachers (men and women)
OSF- Order of St. Francis (men and women)
ASCJ- Apostles of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (women)
CSJ- Carmelites of the Divine Heart of Jesus (women)
SDSH- Society Devoted to the Sacred Heart (women)
CSC- Congregation of (the) Holy Cross (men and women)

I'm sure there are many more communities with gender neutral names... I don't think it's a bad thing at all..... idontknow.gif

This community has both men and women in it, as it says on the homepage:

QUOTE
The Little Ones of Jesus Crucified was established as a community of persons aspiring to a life of vowed celibacy, and for couples in the vows of the Sacrament of Matrimony. We also have extern members who reside in their own homes, participate in the spiritual charism, and are active in the life of the Dwelling.

You can't really use titles like 'sister' and 'brother' in a situation like that.

Another possibility is that the name 'little ones' was chosen to express humility and childlike response to the Gospel. I don't think there's anything odd in it.
