Hi, Eureka,
What, exactly is a film retreat? Ever since I "got the call" to religious life, I've been avoiding movies, since nearly all of them have at least a tiny something ungodly in them. Do the sisters only show movies about saints, e.g., The Song of Bernadette, A Man for All Seasons, and other films of that genre during their film retreat? Just wondering....
Blessings of Christ,
Margaret
Hello there,
I was out of town--sorry for 'snail' response...to answer to your question to its best, here's a quote from Scott Young, Founder City of Angels Films Festival from the National Film Retreat of Daughters of St. Paul website.
"Cinema is our most influential cultural product and our most collaborative art form. Movies are of the people, for the people and by the people. The democratization of film comes from the technological advances in digital cameras and the proliferation of film festivals. This social achievement of entertainment requires a corresponding spiritual celebration and assessment. How is God experienced on celluloid and in the movie house ?
The film retreat is a robust way of discovering and discerning God's presence in the movies. The National Film Retreat is a terrific supplement and alternative to the film festival. "
I hope it helps...or email Sr. Rose at pcms@paulinemedia.com for more clarity. Come & see--will be great experience.
Blessings to you!
