This is true! But I've also never moved before, so it's a big step for anyone...
Jenny, I'm sorry if my statement seemed to minimize your feelings.

What you are feeling is very normal, and homesickness will appear now and then when you are in formation. That is why postulants get more visiting opportunities with family, because most communities understand that need to stay connected. Hang in there, and read Philosobrat's blog when you can--she's going through similar stuff too right now. God bless!

Thanks Mom!

I will read philo's blog. I'm not shocked new sisters have problems with this... it's just so... what's the word... raw. Ugh. It's all good, though. I'm being PURIFIED! Yeah!

I am surprizingly calm and peaceful. Months ago, I thought my head would have exploded by now from the excitement and nerves, but I'm (for the most part) coasting through...
Please pray that the rest of this week goes smoothly! I think my mother may have a VERY difficult time.

Jenny, remember me? Keeping you in prayer and your family. I don't remember being too sad about leaving home when I went to the convent...and my dad was moving to Ohio and we were selling our home soon. (My mom had already died when I went to the convent.)
Leaving you at the convent will be hard for your mom, and probably your dad, too, if he's with you. My dad got choked up a bit as he left me, but God in his goodness arranged that I would see my dad the very next day after he dropped me off. My uncle had died and I received permission to attend the funeral. When dad said Good-bye to me after the funeral, he was not so sad as the first time he left me so that made it easier.
You are in my prayers.

Yes, I remember you! I was wondering where you were, actually...
Thank you for your post... I just hope this can be an enjoyable and happy experience, not a sad one. I don't like the guilt of feeling like I am making my parents unhappy. They tell me that they are very happy, but I still don't like to see them upset. It will be hard on all of us, but hopefully we can all enjoy the day anyway.

Jenny,
your leaving them will be painful. It is a kind of grieving pain. Grieving comes when there are changes, not just death changes, but any changes in life. I'm sure a mother and father grieve when their child is married also because things are changing and won't be the same. But that must happen. Children are entrusted to parents for a task, to prepare them for whatever God has planned for them. All parenting involves letting go at one time or another, and that is hard. You won't be making your parents unhappy by leaving them on Sunday, but they may experience some pain. It will be holy pain, as will be yours, and God will give you strength. Our Lady will be a special help to all of you also since she certainly knew that pain when Jesus went off on his public ministry, at the Cross, and even after the Ascension.
Please pray for me and I shall for you, too.

AHA! And Here I thought you were already a postulant!
I will remember you and your family in my prayers. It is hard on parents to let go. I know it was hard on mine. But I came to realize that God loved them more than I did and knew what was best for them. So basically, my following His will was not only the best thing for me but also the best thing for them.
May the Lord bless you abundantly for acting in faith.

Wait until your Mom realizes that she has inherited a whole bunch of new daughters! In such a short time, when she sees how happy you are, she will relax.
I am so happy for you, may you find what your heart is searching for. And may He be the answer to all your needs.

Okay y'all,
This is my last post. I will be spending the rest of the day with my family, so I won't be here on the phorum. My family and I will leave my house at around 7 tomorrow morning, and arrive in time for noon prayers and Benediction. We will join the Sisters for dinner (the big noon meal), then I will change into my postulant jumper and go through the official entrance ceremony. A reception will follow with all the Sisters, my family and friends, and Rosa's guests. Check the
website under "Events" for pictures of the day.
Thanks for all the support and great advice. This journey of growing in God has been the most painful, exciting, and rewarding experience of my life, and I am so happy that I was able to share it with you!
Please pray for me and my family tomorrow, and remember me in your daily prayers.
Again, thanks!!!
In Him,
Jenny
