Advent blessings to all!
And Happy Feast of St John of the Cross to my fellow Phatmassers with Carmelite inclinations.
I felt drawn today to visit and ponder the lovely web site of Terre Haute Carmel. I have to say when I look at Carmel and how various communities have renewed since the second Vatican council, I find the balance and wisdom of the community at Terre Haute inspiring. They are still in traditional habit, but they also have made adaptations to their schedule (a weekly hermit day) that reflects St Teresa's eremetical emphasis. I'm pretty sure that they are in an association, so there is an occasional meeting attended, but I am not upset by that at all. I think it's rather healthy. Their web page just calls to me deeply (and since I just started a new job that I love, part of me says "darnit")
SO, I think others on the Phorum have spoken about contact with this community. Has anyone been there for a weekend visit or even a Live-in? I'd love to know more if anyone has. If you would like to PM me rather than a public post, that's cool. Much appreciation to anyone who can shed more light on this for me.
thanks-
Graciela
