Full Version: I'm Still Discerning...

I just want people to know that I'm still discerning the Catholic Priesthood but I'm also discerning the possibility of marriage. I'm just taking time to re-evaluate where I'm at in life. Although I am majoring in Political Science and Communications (or that is the intent) I'm still very much interested and in someways still very much intriqued by the possibility that God is calling me to the priesthood. I have realized that this isn't the time I'm being called to be in seminary but that calling may come at a later time. I also think that maybe I'm not meant to be a diocesean priest, although I'm uncertain how I would do in community. Over the next 3 1/2 years of college I'm going to be discerning both priesthood and marriage and see where I'm at at.

Just recently I've seriously been giving a thought to at some point go on a retreat with a community that I have always had a predilection for, the Marians of the Immaculate Conception. I'm really drawn to that community, I'm drawn to their lifestyle, their love of the Blessed Mother, their love of the Divine Mercy, it really encompasses my spirituality.

Please pray for me as I continue to discern. Who knows where I'll be in 3 1/2 years.

Sincerely Yours in Christ,

Edward Looney

Hey Ed, I'm glad to hear that you're still discerning, but just keeping your options opened. If you ever do want to go through with possibly visiting the MIC's, the provincial is actually my pastor, so I could get you his info for you to ask him. Just let me know!

May God bless and protect you always in all of your endeavors, especially your discernment!

Your Brother in Christ,

Joe

Praise be to Jesus Christ!

May Our Lord lead you and Our Lady bring you closer to Him.

One of my best friends and the man responsible for my conversion is a Marian of the Immaculate Conception. If you ever make a retreat with them, PM me and seek him out. I guarantee you won't be let down. He is actually in the process of preparing some of his writings for publication through them. I have nothing but love for that congregation and their love for Our Lady and the Divine Mercy.

As far as your discernment goes, I think its good you are taking your time. God bless you in your discernment!
