Congratulations!
I wanted to start a blog too, but I'm afraid it'll be dead.

WELCOME to the Church. Here is a list of suggestions that I always recommend to RCIA candidates.

edited out trad sites
http://acatholiclife.blogspot.com/2007/08/...latin-mass.html

Books:

Catechism of the Council of Trent (very complex but it teaches the Faith)

My Catholic Faith by Angelus Press (193 chapters covering everything you need to know about the Catholic Church)

Baltimore Catechism (simple to understand; highly recommended)

The Catechetical Instructions of Saint Thomas Aquinas (complex)

The Confirmed Catholic's Companion: A Guide to Abundant Living

Catholicism for Dummies by Fr. John Trigilio and Fr. Kenneth Brighenti (Highly recommended)

Note: Catholicism for Dummies not Idiot's Guide to Catholicism is recommended. I have read that the Idiot's Guide has several theological errors, and it isn't even written by Catholics.

This is the Faith by Canon Francis Ripley (Also highly recommended)

A Biblical Defense of Catholicism by Dave Armstrong

By What Authority? by Mark Shea

Born fundamentalist Born again Catholic by Dave Currie

Theology for Beginners by Frank Sheed

Crossing the Tiber by Steve Ray

The Spirit of Catholicism by Karl Adam

Where is that in the Bible? by Patrick Madrid

Where is that in tradition? by Patrick Madrid

Unabridged Christianity: Biblical Answers to Common Questions About the Roman Catholic Faith by Fr. Mario P. Romero

Worthy is the Lamb: The Biblical Roots of the Mass by Thomas J. Nash

Radio Replies Volumes 1 & 2 by Fathers Rumble and Carty

The Sinner's Guide by Venerable Louis of Granada., OP

Liberalism is a Sin by Fr. Felix Sarda y Fr. Salvany

1962 Roman Catholic Daily Missal by Angelus Press

An Essay on the Development of Christian Doctrine by John Henry Cardinal Newman

Calvary and the Mass by Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen

True Devotion by St. Louis de Montfort

Life of Christ by Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen

The Faith of the Early Church Fathers by William Jurgens

For Bibles I recommend the Douay Rheims Bible, it was declared the official English Language Bible at the Council of Trent.

There is nothing wrong with Traditional Catholic Sites. The books I have suggested all are authentically Catholic and not schismatic or heretical.

What's with this anti-trad skepticism that a lot of people seem to have? Not everyones a sede who's raving and foaming at the mouth.

Godspeed as a lector. I have been a lector for a few years now, in a couple different parishes. It was great fun before my eyesight was restored, as everytime I was up there, a thousand people were listening to a blind person read to them smile.gif

As far as the look and design of your blog goes, I hope it's ok if I make a suggestion. You may wish to change the font to something that is easier on the eyes. Your current font is difficult to read. It might also be good to widen the body of your blog so that your posts are not unnecessarily long.

Hi all.
Been a while since I have been on this forum. My daughter (Selah) has been posting far more than I have. Sorry for the absense. I'll try to pop in more often.
Just to add to the OP, this former anti-Catholic fundamentalist preacher now belongs to the Knights of Columbus.

The second edition of the RSV-CE is approved of too. It's used by a lot of solid catholic biblical scholars such as Dr. Scott Hahn, author of the famous book on his conversion "Rome Sweet Rome."

Yea, not all trads are schismatic. I discerned with the Benedictine Sisters of Mary Queen of Apostles in Kansas City, MO and even though they have the traditional latin mass (very beautiful liturgy by the way) they are still in union with Rome. Heck, during my visit with them we went to a Novus Ordo mass once at the basicilica because we were invited by the bishop for the yearly blessing of the sacred oils.

There are really good traditional minded people that are in union with Rome. You just have to find them. So don't run away from everything traditional.
