After much phone tag with the CFR Sisters, I'm getting ready for another come and see with them in the first week of May. This time I asked to spend more time with the fully professed sisters so I'll get to stay at OLO the Angels Convent in Harlem. Has anyone here been there? I'll let ya'll know how it goes, pray for me!

Prayers for sure! Enjoy yourself.
I got a chance to visit OLO the Angels convent when I went on my come and see in November. They were still settling in so there was a lot of painting going on amongst other things. When I got the tour it was "This will be...", but it's a grand place. It will be great when it is completed. The sisters there were great fun and very friendly.
God bless you.

I just got back from NYC last night. I have a very good feeling about my visit and will pray and call Sr. Claire in about a week. The new convent is probably much further along that when you saw it in November although it still has a ways to go. They have several people who have been volunteering their time, labor, and money to help out. It is a strange to have everything on a different floor, the building is very tall and thin, a bit like living in a grain elevator, haha. I got to tag along and shadow a few of the sisters in their day to day things including visiting two schools and going to a parish mission. In one of the classrooms, a little boy asked them if you only get to wear a habit when you are young and then have to take it off when you are old. All of the CFR sisters are young and the sister (from a different order) who doesn't wear one who works at the school is in her 70s. It was an akward moment, haha.
The prayer life is very strong, I loved starting and ending the days in the chapel with Jesus. The friars who came to celebrate masses were reverant and had well thought out homilies. I was surprised how close we were to Central Park, we went on Sunday and I think just about everyone was taking pictures of the sisters. It felt like being out with movie stars. All of this discernment makes me very sleepy. I took nap this afternoon and ended up sleeping for 7 hours! Thank God I had noplace to be. I had a great visit and will probably be going back for another, will be my third, come and see. Please pray for me!

It's wonderful to read you had such a good time

(And totally natural to come back knackered - all the new impressions take their toll!) The moment with the little boy - priceless.
You have my prayers

WOW that sounds wonderful, congrats and you'll be in my prayers.
I have been to NYC only once, and I was well . . . those driving down there, yikes! My friend who took me said "Never again" would she take me.
While she drove I was abit( OK alot) concerned about the other people driving habits, cutting in front, no signals and such, so I was verbal about it "YIKES! WATCH OUT!" came from my lips. LOL so now if I ever go down with her, I can only go if we bring a blind fold and duct tape! LOL But all and all after about a half hour looking for a parking spot and walking about five blocks, it was exciting and neat to see the city.
