I know this is not about discerning a vocation, but I also know this is a place to get a lot of intercessory prayer going. I received this email last evening. Please pray for the Brothers and Sisters of Charity. Little Portion Hermitage is a beautiful place and the buildings were constructed with a lot of love and prayer. I know your prayers will be appreciated. Thank you. Peace.

Last night the sleep of the Brothers and Sisters of Charity, Monastic, was interrupted close to midnight as a raging fire burned our Chapel and Common Center to the ground. Viola and I were the first on the scene as I saw the orange/red glow through our hermitage's back windows. Upon arriving we found there were no hoses capable of stopping the raging flames. I ran up the hill and woke up the community, and we started the almost futile task of spraying down the part of the Common Center that had not yet burned and retrieving anything from inside we could still find.

Thanks for posting the blog site, EWIE. The email I received was from John's operatios manager and it had a lot of graphics but no url (other than for donations), so I did not want to copy and paste all those graphics into the topic. I appreciate your effort to find a site for folks to visit....as you can imagine the immediate aftermath is devastating, but all remain hopeful and trusting in Jesus.

Peace

Prayers for the community as they face this trial. Our church burned to the ground when I was in 3rd grade, and it was so hard, but it wasn't also our home.

Wow Ewie...you and I seem to be going to all the same places and meeting all the same people from Regina Laudis to Little Portion. John is a dear friend of mine too...I worked with him back in the 80's...just before his marriage to Viola and the establishment of the Brothers and Sisters of Charity. I was fortuante enough to be able to bring him, in concert, to a parish in Northern New Jersey as well - it was a grand night of renewed friendship and, of course, great music. This time, Terry was with him too and it was great to see how much their relationship has grown over the years. I didn't know John before he was a Little Portion but while I lived and worked there, I was able to meet his Terry, his Mom, his sister and his niece Michelle as well. Jamie had just come to live in Eureka Springs with little Michele and I got to spend one Christmas Eve with them..which was great for me as I was really missing my own niece and nephew at that time.

Peace and...I wonder if we know each other or have met from time to time????
