current topic: being a bridesmaid
I'm going to be a bridesmaid in a few months.
The guy at David's Bridal said that the dress was a perfect fit... that was March 22nd.
The dress arrived on Wednesday, May 14... it was very snug, but I got it zipped.
Maybe I was retaining water.
The wedding is in October.
I can't gain any weight if I'm going to fit into the dress.
I've never stressed over my weight/size before. I don't even own a scale. This is not fun.
If I ever get married I'm not having bridesmaids. My sister would be my maid of honor and she can wear whatever she wants.

hmm, that cant be fun. ive never had a problem with weight gain, in fact i cant even though i want to! but looks like you should join a sports team or something, start biking. given that is summer, it will be fun and help keep you in shape.
not that need it, but a precautionary measure?

My suggestion would be to drink plenty of water.
Just not all at once.
It seems that all the diets in the world can't keep you from gaining weight, but drinking water helps you to stay a certain weight. (And in some instances actually allows you to lose some pounds.)
Cut out the sodas and the chips and watch that fast food....
Remember to stretch in the mornings

Cut out the drinking

Do some jumping jacks

Try the gym

And some calisthenics
Yup...it should be easy!

I bike to and from work most days. It's made my thighs bigger - added muscle I'm sure

I actually keep a water bottle in the lab - which is completely against the rules.

If you don't actually want to do anything long term, then a week before the wedding, cut out all carbs possible. Eat only lean meats and leafy green veggies and drink tons of water. you'll lose almost a lb a day.
it's really unhealthy though, so don't do it for long.

I'd try cocaine before meth... and I'd try satanism before cocaine... so let's assume that drugs are out.
Right now I don't need to lose weight to get into the dress. I just can't gain any weight. I do need to lose weight if I intend to sit down comfortably in the dress... but I can sit down if I take really shallow breaths. Eating at the reception could be a challenge.

A professional might be able to let it out a little... but the wedding's not for a while. That option is on the table for later.
All sales are final at David's Bridal. The sample dress did seem to fit fine at the store (2 months ago). The sales dude said to go with it, so I ordered that same size. It just arrived... it's a little snug... okay, very snug.
There's time. It will be fine. I just have to watch how much I eat for a while.
(but I'm not buying a scale)

And it can put your body into a state of acidosis...

I really wouldn't suggest this...
I lost 21.5 lbs by exercising like a mad woman and drinking a boat load of water and then eating healthy or basically cutting everything in half.

Everyone wondered how I was losing the weight and my brother told them that he hooked me up with a crack dealer. During my weight loss contest I gained 0.5 lbs. My brother came over and said, "Meg! We're going to do another line when we get home."

current topic: television.
Was it actually better when I was a kid or am I romanticizing my memories?
I find myself dissatisfied with most shows. Maybe my standards are higher. Maybe my tastes have changed.
When did TV news become so focused the entertainment industry?
I used to put TV news on in the morning while getting ready for work. I gave up on both national news channels and our local TV stations when Anna Nicole Smith was the lead story for at least two weeks straight after she died. Things were bad before then, but that was the last straw. After 3 or 4 days of flipping channels, I landed on ESPN2. Mike & Mike in the morning. I like them. I listen to their radio show when I can't catch the televised simulcast.

I feel the same way about TV in general (except for Lost, which rocks). Of course, I no longer have a television, so don't guess that matters too much. It's really funny, though, when Virgin Media calls us to try to get us to sign up with their TV package since we have our phone & internet with them. They start going into their spiel, and I just quickly say we don't have a television, and then there's silence on the other end. After a moment they're just like "Okay, then. Cheers".

I could do w/o tv service, but I love watching DVDs @ home.
In fact, I just started watching LOST. Netflix is great for TV shows... no commercials. I'm on season 2. I also like 24, but the strike delayed this season's production.

The A/C is out at work. It's 78 degrees and near 80% humidity in the laboratory.
I really want to leave, but I have too much work to do! Of course, I just met with my boss this morning (how convenient) so he knows exactly how much progress I have made and what my current plans are. He will call tonight to ask how today's experiments went. I'm stuck here. Yesterday it was a little chilly in the lab - so I wore long sleeves and an undershirt today! Ha!

bright side:
1. at least I have a job
2. and a boss that cares about my progress
3. days like today make me more thankful for the days when the a/c does work
4. it's better than the power being out... that would actually ruin my work rather than just making me uncomfortable
