Hello Phatmassers!

Do any of you know of an inexpensive yet thoroughly Catholic place to have a retreat for about a dozen women?

What it needs:

Catholic chapel
Daily Mass
1 bathroom for every 2-3 people
private or double-occupancy rooms
Clean
small meeting room
inexpensive
near Illinois or Indiana

What would be ideal:
In addition to the above, daily Adoration - or even better, perpetual Adoration!
A community that already prays the Liturgy of the Hours which we could join (why pray separately?)
An opportunity for confessions

Even better...
Franciscan spirituality
prepared meals (again, inexpensive!)

I wonder if there are any faithful Franciscan communities that have room to host guests during their community retreat, and would be willing to share the cost?

If so, please reply to this post or PM me!

Thank you - and let's pray for each other!

I don't live in the area, so I wouldn't know.

But I'll remember you in my prayers. smile.gif

The closest place I know of is in Oklahoma.

The two that immediately come to mind are here, http://www.passionistnuns.org/ & here, http://www.ssfpa.org/

I believe especially the later would be the most ideal for you guys, being Franciscans with Perpetual Adoration. Someone, I forget her screen name, from PM entered there. They do not generally have groups come for retreats as the Whitesville, KY Passionists do, but I know a community of religious sisters who go there annually for their community retreat. Feel free to PM me about it! God bless!

The Franciscans of the Immaculate have a retreat house in Bloomington, Indiana. I think it has a lot of rooms, at least fifty. I'm not sure how far in advance you'd need to book. I'll look it up... brb.

Bloomington FFI Retreat House

It doesn't list the cost, but they're Franciscans, so maybe not bad. They have 29 rooms with space for 90, Chapel, conference hall, dining hall, kitchen. I don't know whether the brothers will cook meals or not.

The Cenacle Sisters have a retreat house here in Chicago (on Fullerton Ave In Lincoln Park) that can meet your requirements for space, meeting rooms, private rooms and daily Mass. I do not know whether the sisters who live there pray the LOH. They have a small chapel in one of the retreatant wings that has the Blessed Sacrament in a glass tabenacle so it's available for adoration at any time (not perpetual adoration exactly). They also have a larger main chapel that is used for Mass. They have a kitchen with staff who can prepare meals. Even though it is in the city, it is amazingly quiet! I'm sorry that I do not know about their pricing and how it compares in terms of being expensive or not.

Marytown is in Libertyville, IL and they fit most of your requirements - I'm not sure about the price though. When I was working in Chicago we had a retreat there once though, so I don't think it was expensive. It is a very beautiful place!
