Is "Total Consecration" the same as "Consecration to the Immaculate Heart"?
Has anyone done either? Would you recommend it?(I know that's a stupid question) and why?

'Total Consecration' is the Consecration to the Blessed Mother according to St. Louis de Montfort, which is different than consecration to the Immaculate Heart, I believe. There is also a Consecration to the Blessed Mother according to St. Maximillian Kolbe.
I have not made a consecration yet, however I am discerning doing so. I am a part of my school's Militia Immaculata, which is a Marian group consecrated according to St. Maximillian Kolbe. I did not consecrate last year, but I may do so this year.

Rest assure, it wasn't a stupid question. I found a consecration pray to the Immaculate Heart of Mary in a prayer book called, "Pure Faith."

I've started doing St Louis'... Someone gave me a pamphlet with all the readings for each day set out neatly, and I'd been thinking of it for a while, so I thought I would start and see at least, even if I don't finish it right now.

Pardon me if it's a bit sidetracking, but I'm scared to death to do any consecrations, because I know I'm bound to sin...which would make me desecrating...myself, I guess. Is that a rational fear/reason not to do a consecration?
