Aw, man! Why do I have to live on the other side of the country during the summer? I would totally be there if it were either Fall/Winter/Spring when I'm in school in Maryland..

Hey Teresa,
So sorry you cannot make it, but I wanted to let you know that we have a lot of vocation evens happening at the Archabbey throughout the year. Just a few months ago we hosted the adore 2097 tour for the World Day of Prayer for Vocations which featured awesome Catholic musicians Matt Maher, Kelly Pease, and Josh Blakesley. It was a great event with a number of young and vibrant religious orders on hand to help young people who may have questions concerning a vocation to the religious life.

You and your friends are always welcome to come join us at the Abbey and I would also invite you to take a look at our nuns: the Benedictine Nuns of St. Emma Monastery who offer great retreats throughout the year. If you have any questions about upcoming events at the Archabbey please contact our vocation director, Father Fred, OSB at his e-mail address: fred.byrne@email.stvincent.edu

What, no Daughters of Charity!? At a Vincentian Abbey!?
No sale!

Just kidding. I'll be there next weekend, if it's any consolation...no cigar, this weekend sad.gif
And just by the way, I volunteer at a Vincentian hospital and took St.Vincent as my confirmation saint...I'm kind of a Vinnie guy wink.gif

Awesome,
Glad to hear you will be coming USAirwaysIHS cool.gif . St. Vincent is an amazing saint and we are so fortunate to have him as our patron. It happened by chance as the bishop who dedicated our Archabbey Basilica would always name the Church after the patron of the day...and it just so happened that on the day he came it was the feast of St. Vincent De Paul. Being educated by Vincentian's at St. John's University in New York I have always felt honored to be at a Benedictine House named after one of the great patrons of the poor and charitable work for others.

Brother Gabriel, you misunderstood me,
I said I'd be there next weekend, as in Independence Day weekend, as that is when I'm coming up to Pittsburgh, but I'll still be here (florida) until then. Good luck with the event, sorry I can't make it. sad.gif

And yes, I agree that St. Vincent was an amazing saint...then again, any person who dedicates his life to chastity and poverty for the Lord, and spends his life serving the sick and poor and establishing orders of religious sisterhood is an amazing person in my book wink.gif
