...is the remains of the Dominican Sisters of Bethany, one of the Dom Fr. Lastate OP foundations.
I emailed Sr. Renata at the website,
http://w3.ime.net/~sisterop/
and she sent me three attachments about who they are, formation and their schedule.
to summarize,
They are still Dominican, pray the office, attend Mass at the local church, have guests, seminars and retreats, board dogs and still do prison work. They each have an hour of adoration before the Blessed Sacrament every day and a hermit day once a month. They accept from 25 to SIXTY, with EXCEPTIONS, and from the pictures on the website, don't appear to have a problem with weight issues. They wear a simple white shirt, black shirt, Dominican cross, wear work attire when appropriate, and have no trouble being recognized as sisters.
They live in a farm about 1 hour, 30 miles northeast of Portland in beautiful countryside filled with lakes. They have 160 acres bordering on 2000 acres of forest. sounds and looks beautiful.
Their contact, Sr. Renata, has an email contact on the website. Most interestingly, is that they accept for permanent association women who for one reason or another don't want to or can't make a full canonical commitment to the community. Sort of a claustral oblate as in some Benedictine congregations. I don't know the details, of course.
