Wow! This is really inspiring and something I can relate to. I didn't go pro [too young anyway] but I did play state for a couple of years with girls older than me, and soccer was my life for the longest time. Up until last year, I realized there's more to life than soccer and that I hadn't been playing truly for myself, for enjoyment, but instead to try to satisfy and please other people. Once I acknowledged all this, I was able to really hear God's voice, and in the silence of my heart, I could recognize His call to me. Thank you for posting this; it's beautiful to read about!
Edit: Also, doesn't Mt. St. Mary's have annual soccer games? I know Josephinum [where our seminarians are] does; if so, he should be quite a help!
