About three days ago I broke down and crossed over to the dark side.

I bought my first Apple product - an Ipod Touch.

I was looking for an MP3 player that can do more than my tiny 1GB one can do. They sold me on an 8 GB Touch. This thing is incredible. So far I have

The iPod has GPS?

I thought it could only triangulate your position using cell phone towers, and then show you a Google map with directions, providing you are in a wi-fi hotspot--but not pinpoint your location and give you turn by turn directions like a true GPS device could.

Dude, I'd get one but I have all the episodes of The Office on my iPod video on top of my extensive music collection. I'd need a pretty big iPod to contain my awesomeness.

yeah i currently got 53 gigs of just music on my ipod classic, and way more movies and shows i would like to put on there. but i will be getting a 120gb Zune. they are way better than the ipod classics

I have a portable hardrive that holds 200 gigs and its nearly full!
I also keep work files (CAD darawings) on there too for example, and those drawings take up a lot of room though.

I'm now up to 800 songs 1000 pictures and movies (2 feature length - Wall-E and Incredibles and I only have 1 gig of space left. I can see how this will be problematic in the future since you cannot expand apple products. I have tried a Sony Walkman mp3 player and a MS Zune and both drive me crazy. The big advantage to a Touch is all the extra apps you can use it for. 8 gigs is clearly nothing though so I may have to take it back and upgrade. Though I don't know if they will let me since I got so many promo deals with it ($25 itunes giftcard, carrying case, speakers, all for free)

I have a 250 gig portable. too bad I can't hook it up to the ipod lol.
Jesus_lol
the difference being that a 120 gb Zune will cost roughly the same as a 8gb ipod touch, not cool

"Upgrading" any sort of Apple hardware means buying a whole new product.

As for the Touch is concerned, the highest you can go is 32GB. If you think that'll be enough for you, I would recommended it. Personally, I never store that much video on my 8GB Touch. Just music videos really, and I have never felt much desire to store more on an mp3 player.

Oh, and probably the only reason they gave you all that stuff for free is it sounds like you bought a 1st Generation Touch. The 2nd Generations have a built-in speaker, and really, that's about the only difference that you don't get with the software upgrade. It's not worth the extra money if you're happy with the Touch you have now, like I am, but if you're in the market to buying an iPod you may have really wanted one of the 2nd gens. smile.gif

See, that's why I have a 1TB external hardrive. P.gif

I like kickin' it old school with an original black iPod nano:

This lil puppy features a color screen, "Click Wheel" (except I turn off the annoying "click" sound), and flash(y) memory. I even have trouble filling up the 4 GB, but I'm not carrying around my entire music collection either... just whatever suits my current mood.

To compensate, I do own a 2.2 GHz dual-core MacBook (from the year-old lineup, bought refurb in March). Only drawback to is the limited video memory, but I'm able to watch hi-res video on hulu.com just fine, even with Firefox consuming 1 GB of memory from all the open tabs smile.gif

What I like more than anything is being able to close/re-open the MacBook with literally a two second wait for everything to come back up, including wireless. Before I just installed a few software updates, OS X had been running for about 45 days without a re-boot and no perceptible effect on performance.

Nope, its a second gen smile.gif I didn't even know there was two different versions until I started using the app store wirelessly and saw people complaining in the reviews.

I own all of you with my Sansa:

I have an 80G Classic that has all my iTunes stuff on it, and an iTouch that I mainly use as a PDA, although I have also uploaded movies and songs to it at various points. It is absolutely a beautiful thing. It's the right size, and the battery life is good. I love having all my contacts with me at all times, and my schedule handy too. And it was not too expensive -- cheaper than the Palm I bought years ago and never used because I lost the stylus.

I'd never buy an Apple computer, but Apple has outdone itself with accessible technology.
