Full Version: Strange-looking Hosts

Sunday I went to Mass, and I was struck by the way the host looked. It looked like Pita bread! The one the priest elevated even looked a little burnt. Because of this strange looking bread, I decided to wait to receive until the evening Mass (I go to two Masses on Sunday, one at my local parish, and the other at a parish I'm working in...)

But my question is...is this valid bread for Holy Communion? And if it isn't, what happens to the Mass? Does this make it illicit? What can I do to correct this situation?

If the bread is leaven then it is an illicit mass. If the bread contains much else, as in anything other than wheat bread, it might be invalid. This is a serious abuse and you should write your diocese about such matters. Try to find the office of Worship or if all else fails write your bishop, but above all be charitable.
