Ok, that was absolutely, totally awesome - thank you so much.

A few observations...

[*]even men look good in long skirts!
[*]the nun at 6.00 in the background is wearing a short skirt - not a nice look after all those lovely long habits!
[*]the little boy at 6.30 is so cute in his little habit!
[*]the Carmelites (?) at 7.37 are wearing black capes - interesting

Thank you! One of the reasons I love visiting Rome is seeing the variety of habits in St. Peter's Square. A few years ago when I was there, it was surprise to see a Poor Clare in a traditional habit - the exact one I wore for so many years. It was a beautiful sight, but I was curious as to why she would be there alone - thought perhaps she was waiting for a companion.

I went to Mass then wandered the shops ....there was "my" Poor Clare with a huge bag in the same shop. Of course, could not help but wonder what treasure she had for her monastery, likely from a benefactor. Anyway, it was special to see her, thought we never spoke as I felt it might interrupt her interior silence.

Wow! Did you see the sister in 5.48? I wonder what her congregation is that she'd have an apron like that?

Nunsense, the nuns in 7.37 aren't Carmelite. They're in Italy, relatively new (last couple of decades or so) and I WISH I could remember their names! But they're getting quite a few vocations. I want to say... they were renovating a barn or something on or near their current convent for a second dwelling. Phooey, it'll come to me at 2am I'm sure of it!

aaaah Rome that video makes me want to go there again.

The video also reminds me of a question I have that maybe someone here can help me with. Why do some orders of nuns/sisters keep their hands hidden, folded under their scapular or cape etc??

You're right - I wasn't looking closely. I had another look. Their habit is black, not brown (my poor eyesight) and their toque is on the outside of their cape and they wear a crucifix over their scapular! The square neckline fooled me!

As for that sister at 5.48 - I couldn't figure out if that was an apron or something she was holding like a tapestry! Her toque (wimple) is very different - it really comes forward on the face. I wish every nun had a sign that said which community she is from!

Nunsense,
I think the sister at 5.48 is actually a child at a saint-type activity. She very young looking and smallish compared to the people in the background. (I may be wrong but that is may opinion.)
And I think the other nuns might be the sisters associated with the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest. (This I'm not too sure about because I thought they had a blue cape, but maybe this is a traveling cape or something.)

The young girl at 5:48 is dressed up as Sister Marie of St Peter, at an event [i]((1816 - †1848) was a Carmelite nun who lived in Tours, France. She is best known for starting the devotion to the Holy Face of Jesus which is now one of the approved Catholic devotions.)[/i]
while the Nuns at 7:37 could belong to Sister Adorers of the Royal Heart of Jesus Christ, Sovereign Priest ( or Institute of Christ King if you prefer).http://www.institute-christ-king.org/vocations/sisters/

so these ones in video could be some form of Benedictines?
Though the Priests pictured just before are of the Institute, so the black cape could be a traveling cape, and the blue litrurgical?
