I feel I am in a strange situation at the moment. I give myself completely to my work - I have to, the child I care for deserves and needs me to - yet I stand by my belief that I have never left Carmel. Yes, of course I am not physically in Carmel at this point in time, but it is also possible to live in Carmel without living Carmel.

I am not, now, concerned that I will be entering a new community; that is God's will so it will be fine. The one thing I now know will be painful is my second Clothing. When that day comes I will kneel before my new community (wherever that may be) and request to be allowed to learn to give myself, to learn how to be poor, chaste and obedient, to learn how to live in the wilderness of solitude with my God. It will be painful because I have never once retracted those requests since I first made them on 23rd November 2008, Feast of Christ the King. It wil be painful because I have learnt a lot of that while I have been out, under the direct tuition of my God rather than any human superior.

When I was first discerning, and when I first entered, I was like most young women in my position. I was so excited, I had the party before I entered, from the day I entered I longed for Clothing, from Clothing I longed for Profession. Now I just want to be back in Carmel, if I'm a postulant for 3yrs I accept it, if my Profession is delayed, I accept it. None of these are so important to me anymore, all that matters is giving myself fully to the One who I adore.

That is truly beautiful! I wish you many blessings.

In Carmel do you wear civilian clothes for the first period of time? I imagine it is difficult to live behind walls. Is there one thing that is the hardest for you to give up?

In my old community we worn just our normal secular clothes as postulants - which in my case was pink with pink with pink! :cheer: I think Notting Hill (if I end up there) have a bit of a dress code, they also tend to have a year postulancy rather than the more usual 6mths, I think because they get a lot of non-English postulants, some of whom need to learn English. While I quite like the idea of a postulants dress, I am actually relieved the old Carmelite ones are finally out (in the UK at least).

Many of my sisters, and also those I have met at NH, really struggled with enclosure, but I can honestly say I was never once bothered by it. At NH they pointed out to me that their enclosure is very different to Q who have 26 acres and no high walls, but again it doesn't bother me in the slightest - I have known from very early on that enclosure was a big part of my calling.

Hardest to give up?? Oh goodness!! I think it was hair conditioner and nail varnish! Although that said, I never really had to give up hair conditioner as my mother kept sending me some! (I had thick waistlength hair and didn't cut it at Clothing). In non-material terms, the hardest thing to give up was the possessive relationship I had with my best friends :buddies: This time I think the hardest will be my vegetarianism, I was catered for at Q, but as I am now dairy intolerant, and also want to give myself in an absolute and complete way, I am going to eat fish.

I didn't have this on my Bucket List before but I think what I will be doing on Thursday could be a part of something I want to do before I go to the Convent. I get to perform on my high school stage one more time. I had many special moments on that stage during my time in high school so the fact that I'll be there one more time means quite a lot to me and I get to share it with my friends.

Also when I finally have my date picked, like maybe two days before I go, I would like to take a small group of my closest friends to go bowling. We have a great bowling alley near my house so I'd like to have a mini party with them there. That would be nice.

In my original Bucket List, I stated that I want to go to London. Now I've just discovered on my school website that there will be a summer 2012 trip to LONDON! I've contacted the person in charge to see if it was possible to sign up. Please say a prayer that I can sign up because that would really motivate me to stick it out at school so I can look forward to it. You know, it's pretty funny actually because I was looking for the spring break trip which happens to be to Rome and it was sold out. But I didn't get mad because I was just in Rome so I'm not sad about that. But then below it, I saw London and my mood changed completely! So I really hope this will work out. It will mean a lot to me if I go and then I will see that's a big part of why Our Lord has sent me to DeSales.

I'd love to visit the shrines of France, Lisieux, Never and all the others. You can do it on a ten day trip finishing in Lourdes. I'd love to go back to Fatima as well, its wonderful there. I'm hopefully going to Medjugorje next year so that's ticked off.

Non-pilgrimage things? Hmm, I'd quite like to see some of Australia and New Zealand before I enter. Also, have a book published (I'm a closet writer, I've had a few short stories published)

I won't be really disappointed if none of these things happen. When I actually think about what I'll miss I mainly think of face moisturiser, bubble baths and fiction books. I know there'll probably be fiction there but I'll miss being able to go out to the shop and browse or download one onto my Kindle. Silly things, I know.

I am happy as I am. I would gladly follow St Clare's footsteps to wherever the Lord so leads me - even without goodbyes to my family.

I also said before that I wanted to donate my hair to Locks of Love and I did yesterday! I was so glad to do it! I would totally do it again if my hair gets that long again! I love it the way it is now!

I just did the most important thing I wanted to do before ever entering... getting my health in order. Things are starting to get in order since I started with this a w esome doctor.

I only have two things before I enter:

1. Buy a flute (preferably used)
2. Take piano and/or flute lessons.

I've always wanted to learn to play the piano. I will probably ask for either a flute or a keyboard for Christmas so I can teach myself. :)

You should take piano lessons. I took two years and now I can sit down and make covers of songs by ear. It is amesome and quite handy. :)

Okay, my pre-religious bucket list, since I have 3 years to do it in:

1. Learn to sew (yes, it'll take me at least that long)
2. Relearn knitting
3. Learn to prepare vegetables and cook (don't laugh, I know I'm pathetic)
4. Buy suitcase with secret pockets for sneaking in extra books. Yes, I'm allowed bring in books but prob not as many as I want. They'll all go to the library anyway
5. Go on a Shrines of France tour. I've been to Lourdes but I want to go to Lisieux and to St. Bernadette's convent
6. Go to Medjugorje. Controversial, I know but I would like to see it and make my own mind up
7. Visit Australia
8. Learn to make rosaries
