But she will only be my favorite postulant for another few days! Then she'll be my favorite novice! :proud:

WOW! It seems like just yesterday you were taking her to the convent for her entrance. How quickly time flies! :)

She is anxiously awaiting getting the habit and her new name. :proud: She had a great year as a postulant. She did great in her first year of college. She loves learning, like a good Dominican. :hehe: She's also very excited to get to be an aunt again, though we have yet to figure out what my baby and our niece should call her.

I always find that part of it interesting. One of my friends who is a priest his nieces and nephews call him by his given name and not his religious name. It's funny to hear him go back and forth.

My uncle was a priest. We just called him Uncle Joe, and my mom and dad called him Joe. I think I want my future neices and nephews to call me Aunt Marie and not Sister whatever. (actually, if I join a community that lets me pick my name, I've already decided what I want it to be . I want to be Sr. Marie Therese. Or Sr. Therese Marie. either work)

I'm sure in some communities you are right that professed sisters veils aren't blessed - but in my community our veils are blessed. I really never even gave a thought to the fact that they might not be in other communities.
[/quote]

Well it turns out I'm wrong  apparently they are blessed at final profession. At least for the Summit nuns. But its probably that way everywhere

Looks like some of the ladies have a little more style than the guys. The Franciscan Friars of the renewal have this

Alright, so another Carmel that has one like this is Brooklyn smile.gif Here I took some still shots from the video on youtube on them (they are mostly in part 2)

Personally, I like theirs the best! (probably because it's most like in the movie happy.gif ) They just wear the simple tie around veil and have black shoes, which I like for postulants. And their habits/veils are my favorite too. Valparaiso's choir/parlour veils are a little different from the original long Spanish ones, and Brooklyn has the rope sandals!

Okay, I'm finished Carmelizing the thread! .. at least, for now! D.gif

Peace and Good!

I like the rope sandals, more in St. Theresa d' Avila manner!

Jesus, Mary and Francis be with you, keep you and bless you!

Mary+Immaculate<3

I can't find the pic on the updated website, but the Order of the Sacred and Immaculate Hearts of Jesus and Mary has a very beuatiful postulant outfit. It is an aqua blue (kinda fitted, not flowing) with white buttons all the way down in the front. The skirt is the same color as the veil/scapular that the professed sisters wear. The blouse is white and the patch with the Two Hearts is sewed over the heart. There is a short white veil. It think it's nice when a postulant can wear a veil because she doesn't have to worry about how her hair looks, but I'm fine with whatever community I'm called to :)

My personal opinion is that all postulants are inherently cute... ;)

Here is the postulant outfit for the Trinitarians of Mary:

I knew a Brother whose nephews called him "Monkle"

I once read an article by a priest who said that his nieces and nephews call him "Frunkle Mike" (Fr. + Uncle)

Also -- I really like the St. Teresa of the Andes style postulant dress! ^_^
