I was wondering how many other women were interested in the religious life, even more so in a cloistered religious life. I know myself, feel drawn to cloistered life. I also wanted to know how many women were as intrigued as I was by the habits of nuns. I absolutely love habits and veils and all that nun stuff! I also am trying to find out if there is a female order of Jesuits. I haven’t been able to find any yet. Any help would be great! God Bless! crusader1234 Posted April 17, 2004 Share Posted April 17, 2004 im not so sure about the idea of liking it for the habits (noun). you should like it for the habits (verbs) haha im so funny . anyways if you cant find a womens jesuit society (ill ask my schools father director for you) whos to say you shuoldnt start one! if you can spread the idea of agape then go for it. even if it takes work and imagination. I think cloister life would be too easy for me. I'm not saying it is easy, but I have a lot more to offer and 'die' for in the contemplative apostolic order that I hope to enter in 2005. I have never heard of a sister Jesuit society. I go to a Jesuit school right and I'm not too fond of the Jeuits. They have a good rule, but the ones here are soo far from the truth that it scares me! I went to public schools and at the time I was not at all interested in faith, God, or becoming a saint. but there was something strangely compelling about people (like the Desert Fathers) who would give up property, autonomy, sexuality and society for God. There was something really radical about it that I felt drawn to...and I still do feel drawn to that way of life. I feel an attraction the the 3 evangelical counsels, but I'm not sure yet if it's God's plan for me to live a life of enclosure. They are called - IBVM Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary sisters, otherwise known as Loreto sisters. They are considered the sisters to the Jesuits and follow Ignatian spirituality. Sorry if this has upset you, it would be great to be called to start a new order, but there are already female Jesuits. Maybe you are called to be Loreto sister?? Have you ever done the Jesuit 30 day retreat? It could help you discern, maybe. I visited a few orders including the PCPA (Poor Clare's of Perpetual Adoration) Mother Angelica's order. I love the clositered life but something happened within me that makes me think that I don't belong there (save for a new topic sometime). I am also considering starting a new order but I don't know if I can do it and I don't know if that is exactly what God wants me to do. I wish you luck and I will definitely pray for you. But I think if I'm called to religious life I'd be called to an active order...Missionaries of Charity or Sisters of Life But then the contemplative life is wow too.... I just don't know.
