If you like it, you can suscribe and have the daily readings, liturgy of the hours, etc. I was posting the Sunday readings and a reflection earlier in the wee, but nobody seemed interested. Magnificat is amesome, but I really need to get a new copy.... I liked your meditations, keep posting them!! I really think it's amesome to meditate on the readings before Mass, it brings a whole new demention to the Liturgy of the Word. In looking at some of the older posts I saw a reference to the 1962 edition of the St. Andrew's Missal. Anyone know where to get one of those? cmotherofpirl Posted August 17, 2003 Share Posted August 17, 2003 THe Liturgy of the Hours is the offical prayer of the Church said by priests, nun, monks, and some sisters, and any laity who so choose. If you are in an monestary or abbey it is your lifes work. THe office goes round the clock so at all times someone somewhere is praising God. It consists of morning prayer, evening prayer, night prayers and office of readings. Enclosed orders (nuns and monks ) add midmorning, noon, and midafternoon prayer. THe rountine of each prayer session does not vary. They are a set routine to hinge your whole day together. Evening prayer for today the 20th Sunday in ordinary time. opening prayer hymn #40 Love divine, All Loves Excelling (my choice of the 2 offered) psalm 110: 1-5,7 with antiphon for the season (sort of like a refrain) prayer psalm 112 with antiphon for the season prayer canticle revelations 19:1-7 reading hebrews 12:22-24 responsory canticle of mary (Luke 1:46-55 antiphon varys each day intercessions for the whiole Church Our Father prayer conclusion where it says antiphon you read a verse of the psalm and say the antiphon there are 185 hymns to choose from, the psalms are on a four week plan, and lent/easter and advent/christmas and feasts have special prayers listed.
